Indianhead Rifle & Pistol Club

Indianhead Rifle & Pistol Club Welcome to Indianhead Rifle & Pistol Club! This is the place to be for the shooters of the Northwoo

About Us:

The Indianhead Rifle & Pistol Club was chartered in 1983 when a group of local individuals recognized a need for a safe range facility for area sportsmen and women. After extensive planning and design time, groundbreaking took place. With the help of the National Guard, the range was ready for use in the summer of 1986. Initially, there was a 200-yard range, along with a separate pistol

range. The IRPC has since added a .22 range, a 600-yard range, and trap and s***t fields. It is continually moving forward to improve and upgrade these facilities. IRPC's mission is to provide safe facilities for all aspects of the shooting sports, with emphasis on support of out local youth programs, conservation organizations & law enforcement agencies. We are supported by groups like Safari Club International, Lions , White Tails Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited, Wisconsin Hunter Education Instructors Association and others. We are also associated with the National Rifle Association www.NRA.org and Wisconsin Fi****ms Owners, Ranges, Clubs, and Educators inc. (WI-FORCE) www.wisconsinforce.org

It's bee/wasp season ! Might be a good idea to bring your spray...been reports of nests on a couple ranges...they really like the underside of the benches.

Random safety and memberships checks to begin.
The vote last night at the Club meeting was to begin random safety and membership checks to hopefully instill a more safe range environment. You all heard about folks walking down range while others are shooting, shooting too close to gongs and at risk of injury from shrapnel (note white circles on the ground); we are also seeing gongs replaced, soon after 'holed' by unapproved bullets. This is costly for your range.
As members, you also can stop unsafe or inappropriate behavior at any time.
Range officers will have badges and will be courteous. They can ask for your membership card and ID. Thank you for your cooperation.!

As most of you are aware, each year IRPC hosts Precision Rimfire matches for two different National and International leagues during the months of April - October. Each month our scores are submitted to the Competition Leagues for ranking.

This year we had 7 of our regular shooters qualify for and compete in the PRO Series National Championship! The match was hosted at the Rush Lake Range in Northern Minnesota. Kelsey Weber, Kurtis Weber, Carl Ottestad, Seth Verhagen, Amy Tromberg, Mitch Tromberg and Pete Adams all shot at the match through a hot and Muggy day.

Three of our competitors actually came home with multiple trophies, Mitch Tromberg brought home 2 trophies from the match ( 3rd Overall and 2nd in the PRO Series Division). Amy Tromberg brought home a 2nd in the Ladies Division, and 1st for Ladies for the entire 2026 season. Most exciting for all of us was Kelsey Weber who took 1st place in the Young Guns Division for the Championship match as well as 1st Place in Young Guns for the 2025-2026 Youn Guns division. This was Kelseys first major finish and everyone was really excited for her!

Thank you to our Sponsors: Gunfighter Targets, DST Precision, Yellow River Trading Company & The Buffalo Room, and Jocks Automotive and Towing. Below are some pictures of one of our squads, and pictures of our Trophy Winners. Congrats everyone for a great match!

Yesterday July 5th we held our monthly Precision Rimfire match where we had 18 shooters attend. It was a hot day to spend at the range and thankfully the mild winds treated us well! Overall everyone had a great day shooting and seeing friends.

As always, we want to thank our sponsors Gunfighter Targets, DST Precision, Yellow River Trading Company & The Buffalo Room, and Jocks Automotive and towing.

The scores have been submitted to the NRL22 and PRO Series sites for National Championship qualification.

This year seven of our regular monthly shooters will be competing at the end of July in the 2026 PRO Series National Championship. We wish them well!

Here are the scores from our July 5th match.

July 4th weekend: Safe shooting a priority. IRPC Members:

For the July 4th weekend, IRPC will have staff on the range and at the gate. We will be checking memberships and will have Range Safety Officers.

Please bring your membership cards with you.
You may have 4 guests, all shoot with the member at the same range as the member.

What we encourage members to do is practice safe range activity.

Everyone shoots from the same line- no shooters long or short
No going downrange to hang targets while others are shooting
No ‘sky’ barrels- barrels should be pointed either downrange or to the ground.

We anticipate courteous participation and cooperation with the ranges going ‘HOT’ and ‘COLD’ without too much waiting.

As a reminder- when a range is ‘COLD’ there is NO handling of ammunition or fi****ms. Back away from the tables/benches.

Before going ‘HOT’ everyone on the line should agree and be fully aware that firing can commence.

Club Officers and RSOs will have full authority to monitor and if necessary, coach or remove shooters for non compliance, up to and including calling a Club Officer and/or Law enforcement, if required. We hope not to revoke memberships, instead having a safe, fun shooting experience.

We are asking for volunteers for RSOs and membership checking at the main gate. We will be doing 3 hour shifts, Saturday July 4 and Sunday July 5 starting when the range opens at 8 a.m. Volunteers will get our new style IRPC hat. Contact Kermit Van Roekel, Pres at 515 371 8813 or [email protected]
Thank you, IRPC Officers
