Whether you're returning to running, or lacing up your shoes for the first time, easing into your routine is essential for long-term health and success. Below are two of our top tips for a smooth, enjoyable return to sport.

Walk-Run Intervals
Alternating between walking and running is an effective method to adapt tendons, muscles, and joints to increased impact without overloading the body. This could look like walking for one minute, jogging for two minutes, and repeating several times.

Go Easy to Go Fast
Start with a pace you can hold a conversation at. This ensures you're not pushing yourself too soon. Easing into your run allows your body to slowly adjust to the new activity, whereas starting too fast increases your risk of injuries.

We all want that Bloomsday PR, but the most important thing is that you're training in a way that's sustainable for your body. Run safe Spokane!

As the weekend draws to a close, it’s easy to let those "Sunday Scaries" creep in, but we prefer to focus on Sunday Smiles instead!

Looking back at photos from the course is always a quick reminder of what this community is all about: encouragement, perseverance, and shared joy.

Whether you spent today getting your training miles in or simply resting up with family, we hope your weekend brought you plenty of reason to smile.

How are you clearing your head and getting ready to tackle the week ahead? Tell us in the comments!

It's National Wildlife Day and here at Bloomsday we hope you all are able to take a moment and appreciate the natural beauty and diverse wildlife that surround us right here in the Inland Northwest.

Spokane’s scenic trails and riverbanks are home to native wildlife that make our community unique, with Riverside State Park standing out as a vital sanctuary for our local environment.

Following the recent wildfires, preserving and restoring these natural spaces is more important than ever. You can help protect these trails and habitats for future generations by supporting the Riverside State Park Foundation.

As you settle into new fall routines, don't forget to keep your training miles on the calendar. What running or walking goals are you setting for yourself this fall semester?
