Iron Crown KdF

Iron Crown KdF Iron Crown KdF trains in the Medieval and Renaissance Martial Arts of Kunst des Fechtens. What is HEMA? What is KdF?

HEMA stands for Historical European Martial Arts, which is a blanket term for martial arts of European origin that were formerly practiced, but may have since died out. HEMA encompasses many styles, both armed and unarmed, with multiple origins such as Germany, England, Italy, Spain etc. Many such arts are reconstructed and practiced anew with vigor all over the world. KdF is an acronym for Kunst

des Fechtens, a term that translates to The Art of Fencing/Fighting, and was used by the practitioners of the German Martial Arts to refer to systems of combat. KdF includes several “styles” with many similarities and many weapon systems practiced from the 14th through the 18th century. These martial arts are preserved in numerous Fechtbücher, or fencing manuals, from which the arts are reconstructed. About Iron Crown KdF

Iron Crown KdF trains in the Johannes Liechtenauer Tradition of Kunst des Fechtens. Beginners learn the fundamentals of the Longsword and stand-up grappling (Ringen). These fundamentals ground the student in the principles of KdF. Once this foundation is laid, other weapon systems of the Liechtenauer tradition are trained. These include the Messer and Dussack, Quarterstaff, Sword & Buckler, and Dagger. Iron Crown KdF is a member of the Historical European Martial Arts Alliance.
