Coach Victor Vizcaíno with EYM Coaching always talks about how race day nerves don’t just magically disappear… you prepare for them too.
One of the biggest mistakes athletes make is showing up rushed, frantic, and already stressed before the race even begins. Getting to your triathlon early gives you time to breathe, settle in, and actually enjoy the experience instead of feeling like you’re chasing the clock.
You have time to:
• Set up your transition area properly
• Double-check your gear and nutrition
• Walk through the flow of transition
• Get your body warmed up
• Get in the water and acclimate
• Calm your breathing and your mind
The goal isn’t to arrive in panic mode. The goal is to arrive prepared.
Confidence on race day is built long before the horn goes off. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do before a race is simply slow down, take a deep breath, and remind yourself: you trained for this. 🏊♂️🚴♂️🏃♂️
