In Sunday’s Clark Clackamas Championship Game, the Expos just couldn’t get the offense going and fell 3-1 to the Northwest Naturals of Sammamish.
Ricco Longo, Gabe Hurst, Cole Seaman and Elijah Hainline all had solid performances on the mound to limit the Naturals offense but only Hainline and Ryan Clay contributed hits on the offensive side. Clay had two hits, Hainline scored the lone run on a Longo RBI.
This was the 6th Championship Game appearance this season for the Expos and 4 of those ended with a Big Trophy.
Great season, boys! Thank you to all of the families, the coaches and the extended Expos network for all of the hard work and support this year.

Expos started off the Sunday bracket with a 2-1 win over Premier Baseball of Vancouver. Andrew Heesh was dominant on the mound and the offense was just good enough to put Premier away. Heesh threw a complete game 1 hitter. He allowed only three walks while striking out 2.
Josh Lawson, Andrew Monson, Ricco Longo and Heesh all had hits in the game and Elijah Hainline added two. Lawson and Cole Seaman scored the runs.
The win set up a trip to the Championship Game against the Northwest Naturals of Sammamish.

Game two Saturday was a fast paced, exciting game that saw the Expos pitching dominate a good Star Academy (Portland) team. Gabe Hurst gave up a run on only two hits in five strong innings on the mound and Cole Seaman was lights out in two perfect innings of relief.
5 Expos, Young, Longo, Hainline Monson and Gross, had hits, with the biggest belonging to Andrew Monson whose triple to the right center fence drove in Hainline and gave the Spos a lead. The next batter, Gross, followed with a single that scored Monson and that sealed it.
The Expos are playing in the final four today at Concordia College in Portland with game one at 10:15.
With a win, the “Spos would advance to the Championship Game at 12:30.
Let’s go get “em boys!!!

Great Saturday for the Expos in the Clark Clackamas tourney. Two big wins on the day and the Expos find themselves in the final four of the tournament.
Game one against City Baseball of Seattle was a tight contest through the fifth inning but two key plays helped the Expos build a lead they wouldn’t give up. In the top of the 6th inning, with the Expos down 5-3 and time running out, Andrew Monson and Turk Riggan walked. Cole Seaman hit into a fielders choice to leave two men on with two outs. Laken Young then hit a fly ball to left that the fielder misplayed, allowing the tying runs to score and give the “Spos new life.
With Young on, Ricco Longo singled and Elijah Hainline was intentionally walked (Big mistake. Huge mistake) to bring Ryan Clay to the plate with the bases loaded. With two strikes on him, Clay launched a rocket into the right field corner that scored all three runners and gave the Spokane team an 8-5 lead.
Expos would tack on two more in the 7th for insurance.
Meanwhile, Young battled his way through 5 innings of relief, allowing only 2 runs on 3 hits and working out of trouble several times. Ethan Hawes made two great plays in left field to prevent City from mounting a rally.
Hawes and Ricco Longo had three hits each while Elijah Hainline and Clay collected two each. Seaman scored three runs on the day and Hainline had two.

The Expos launched a 7th inning rally but came up just short today against Gunderson Baseball of Portland.
Down 2-0 in the bottom of the 7th, Josh Lawson reached base on an error, Wes Carpenter walked and Cole Seaman drove a base hit up the middle to score Lawson. With the potential winning run on first base, Andrew Heesh crushed a line drive to right that the right fielder tracked down to end the game.
Andrew Monson was solid for 5 innings on the mound, scattering 6 hits along the way. Ricco Longo pitched two innings in relief.
Offensively, Cam Gross and Seaman had the only hits as Gunderson pitcher Heiher was in control all day.
Expos are back at it early tomorrow at Clackamas College against Bridgetown Baseball of Portland.

The Expos finished out the Gonzaga Midsummer Classic on Saturday with a 13-10 win over the NorthWest Bandits of Seattle. A tough 3rd inning on defense let the Bandits back into the game after Spokane had opened up an 8-1 lead. However, Turk Riggan came in to pitch 3 innings of one hit ball, allowing no runs and giving the ‘Spos the opportunity to jump ahead for good.
Riggan, Ricco Longo, Josh Lawson and Laken Young each had two hits to lead the offense. Riggan also scored 3 runs while Lawson and Andrew Heesh scored two each.
The Expos will finish off the 2019 tourney season in Portland this week at the Clark/Clackamas Invitational starting Thursday.
