Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu offers an engaging way to get in shape both physically and mentally. Training BJJ provides the perfect combination of aerobic and anaerobic conditioning to build both strength and increase cardiovascular capacity. iendly environment; where safety comes first. So if you're looking for self-confidence, improved self-esteem, stress relief, and increased focus then call us today and schedule a class. You'll find that we are a fun and friendly group and that you'll start learning and grasping this highly effective martial art from day 1. Here is what you can expect in a typical class.. Class structure may vary slightly on a daily basis but in general you can expect the following format in a 60-minute group setting class. Classes are co-ed and for anyone 14 and over, with or without previous athletics experience. In fact, we specialize and have a program just for beginners.
– Warm Up (10 min)
– Technique (20 min)
– Specific Sparring (15 min)
– Sparring (10 min)
– Cool Down / Stretching (5 min)

Warm up
The warm up is designed to prepare your body for the rigors of training. It usually involves some light jogging around the perimeter of the mat, some calisthenics and some jiu-jitsu specific movements. Technique
This is where you will learn the moves and details of jiu-jitsu. It will usually involve your instructor demonstrating some scenarios and the responses to them. After this, you will pair off with another student to drill the techniques you learned. Specific Sparring
Now you will be given the opportunity to use the techniques you just learned in a controlled but live situation, against a resisting opponent. Understand that this part of the class is spent sparring in a specific situation. This is usually a set position (e.g. the guard or the mount etc.) or with a restricted set of parameters (e.g. only able to use a certain attack etc.) In my opinion, specific sparring is one of the most important aspects of jiu-jitsu training. The most vital of all drills, live sparring is what differentiates Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from other functional martial arts. Sparring is not required but highly encouraged and where your jiu-jitsu game will really begin to advance with the fastest progress. Stretching – Cool Down
At the conclusion of class, we will spend a few minutes stretching, socializing, and answering any questions students may have.
