This is one of our clients with PMOS (PCOS), and this is what her progress looks like.

She’s down 9 pounds, and this is exactly the kind of progress we aim for.

Out of those 9 pounds, only about 1.5 pounds came from muscle, which is completely normal and a fairly minimal amount of loss in a calorie deficit. This is a really solid outcome.

The goal isn’t always zero muscle loss when in a deficit and losing fat. It's more about minimizing it, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.

The majority of that weight is body fat, and it shows. She’s also down inches, which is the bigger win. The scale matters, but how your body is changing matters more.

This isn’t coming from anything drastic.

She’s training with us twice a week and making small, consistent improvements to her daily nutrition.

That’s it. That’s what works. We haven't seen it not work yet 💪💪

The most underrated benefit of lifting isn’t a smaller waistline but fewer mental breakdowns. Seriously.

When women strength train, we’re not just chasing toned arms and a big b***y.

We are literally training our nervous system.

Every workout is a little bit of controlled stress that your body learns to handle and bounce back from, so the real‑life chaos (work, kids, life chaos) doesn’t hit quite as hard.

Over time, that looks like less anxiety, more patience, better sleep, and actually feeling like yourself again instead of running on fumes all the time.

This is why I’ll always push women to pick up weights. Not to make themselves smaller, but to build a mind and body that can actually handle the life they’re living.

"When I first moved to the area I was looking for a trainer and ended up at planet fitness, which I was pretty certain was not going to work for me because I know from past experience that I need structure. Then the Facebook gods answered my search, and I saw a post from Own Her Strength offering a consultation for semi-personal training in a women only facility. I reached out to Maggie and had my consultation, and I knew immediately that she was the one! From day one, Maggie made me feel comfortable, motivated, and capable of more than I thought possible.

At 57 years old I was just hoping to build enough muscle that I wasn’t asking nice young men to help me across the street. What Maggie has given me is much greater. Mother's Day is amazing. I love it with all the flowers, brunch, a card.

But what about the other 364 days when you're carrying the invisible load...work, family, schedules, mental load, and everybody's needs before your own?

Fitness CANNOT be another full-time job!
It HAS to fit your real life, or it will always feel like one more thing you're failing at.

Here's what I know: Strong, well-fed women are better partners, parents, friends, and humans not because they do more, but because they're resourced.

You can't pour from an empty cup, and you also can't build a strong body while under-eating, under-sleeping, and over-functioning in every other part of your life.

Your training and nutrition plan has to support your life, not compete with it.

That's what we build here. Structure that fits. Energy that lasts. Strength that shows up in real life, not just in the gym.
