This big day is finally here! We’ve got some tips for you to have your best run!
🍽
Have a healthy supper - no need to load up on carbs! - and avoid fatty or greasy foods that might lead to an upset stomach. 🍳 Don’t skip breakfast on the morning of the race! Eat a light meal one hour before the race, but don’t overdo it; a full stomach can lead to cramping or side stitches as you’re running.
👟
Lay out your clothes and shoes tonight so that you’re not stressed trying to find what you need in the morning. Dress for it to feel about 15° warmer than it actually is outside so that you’ll be prepared when your body heats as your run.
😴
It goes without saying that your body needs rest to be its best. Get a good night's sleep tonight!
⏰
Arrive early tomorrow so that you have plenty of time to find parking, check in, and prepare for the race.
🔥
Warm up your muscles with a slow jog about 15 minutes before the race starts.
🧷
Properly pin on your bib to the FRONT of your shirt, making sure it’s flat and secured at all four corners. Make sure the timing device on the back of your bib isn’t covered by clothing or a running belt, etc.
🏃♂️🏃🏃♀️
When lining up to start, give yourself plenty of space from other runners. And don’t let your adrenaline get the best of you - keep a good pace from the very beginning.
💦
Use the water station set up on the corner of Rutledge and Connecticut to stay hydrated!
😃
Have fun! Enjoy this beautiful day in our lovely city. And thank you for supporting the administration, teachers, and students at Pine Street School! ❤️🌲
