In 2009 Don and I entered in the Natural Resource Conservation Service's (NRCS) EQUIP (Environmental Quality Incentive Program) on several steep hillside fields to remove them from row crop production agriculture. We needed to maintain the fields for five years. Each year we have used prescribed fire as a management tool. Seventeen years later we are finally seeing awesome prairie plants.
