Let’s loosen up the shoulders —-> swipe and try all or some of these movements.

The shoulders tend to be an area that holds tension and stress. Not only that, our anatomy is all unique and making sure we move smaller muscle groups always helps with mobility. Giving focus consistently to these areas will keep mobility and range of motion stable and fluid.

Yogas meaning Sanskrit root yuj (“to unite”).

While moving through postures in a practice, limbs, muscles, bones, fascia are all moving in connection to each other, bringing your movements to life. Emotions and thoughts move through the brain making more connections to the whole body. A conversation with the body and mind takes place, recognizing the state of your whole being in mind, body and spirit. This is the purpose of the practice to facilitate a deeper connection between the physical and mental self.

Breath-work offers benefits to enhance your everyday wellbeing, on and off the mat. You do not need to be a proficient yogi to enjoy the benefits of the awareness of the breath.

- reducing stress
- activating the parasympathetic nervous system
- improving oxygen intake
- boosting energy levels
- mental clarity + emotional regulation
- better sleep

Sounds like magic, but it’s all in your power to bring this life-changing tool into practice.

Pictured is alternate nostril breathing (Nadi Shodhana)
This particular breath work technique balances the right side/ left side brain. Helping focus and calm enter the body.

How to :

- find a comfortable seat
- middle finger to forehead
- cover one nostril with either thumb or pinky
- inhale
- pause
- uncover covered nostril
- cover opposite nostril with thumb or pinky
- exhale out the new open nostril
- inhale
- repeat - up to about 3 minutes if comfortable
- come back to a neutral breath
- check in with self

One of my favorite standing balances - it’s the perfect metaphor for life when tension is high and everything feels difficult. A challenging pose to land in, usually different for each side of the body.
This pose when released is the best feeling, like everything aligning and softening.

Aside from the energetic benefits - it’s perfect for
strengthening and stretching the body and mind with focus and intention.
