Skills4Sports
“Where kids have a ball”
As parents, we all want to do what is best for our children. Often that involves making sure our kids are learning, having fun, remaining active and trying new skills. In today’s ever-growing world of technology, the remaining active and learning new skills can be difficult. Especially as many sports clubs do not take kids who are less than 5 or 6 years of a
ge. At that point, we are usually picking one or two sports for our kids to go and try to see if they like it. The idea of Skills4Sports is to give you as a parent, the chance to bring your child to a safe, fun environment where they can be active, learn new skills and get the chance to see what sports they enjoy. The mission of Skills4Sports is to provide children with a positive introduction to the skills required to play sports with a focus on having fun. Skills4Sports will focus on developing skills that will be transferable to a wide range of sporting situations. Your child will work on developing their gross motor skills such as; agility, balance, hand to eye and feet to eye co-ordination and spatial awareness. Throughout the program each child will experience a wide range of ball skills, including catching, throwing, kicking and general ball control. They will also have the opportunity to continue to develop their social skills, communication, listening to instructions, and teamwork, all whilst being active, staying healthy and having fun. Bio for Bev Sloan
I am a mother of 3 young boys, (8, 4 and 2) and originally from Great Britain. I moved to the USA in April 2012 with my husband and 1 son, after my husband transferred with his job working for Rolls-Royce to the bay area in California. We moved to Zionsville Indiana in Oct 2014. We love the community and family spirit here, and the Midwest hospitality has really taken a shine to our hearts. This is most certainly our home now. Since my eldest boy was old enough to try sports clubs, we introduced him to soccer, swimming and karate. He excelled at Karate and he is now about to enter the black belt candidate class (proud mom time) . Since moving here and thinking of my youngest boys I found that there was a lack of sports development for the under 5s in the immediate area, and this is where the idea for Skills4Sports developed from. I truly hope that this club inspires your child to take up a lifetime of sports and healthy fun. Qualifications:
I achieved my Bachelor of Science in Sports Science from the University of Sunderland and Master of Science (MSc) in Sports and Exercise Science from Manchester University. I have gained many years of experience with sports, which started in England when I was a Sports Scientist for the England Women’s Netball Team. I studied the benefits of warming up, cooling down and playing at levels of efficiency for the body, which is especially important in children’s rapidly growing bodies. During my studies I worked with the City of Salford trampoline club with their youngest members to develop core skills of balance, coordination and flexibility.
