Tonight’s banquet officially puts a cap on the high school and middle school seasons!

High schoolers had a great season, bringing home trophies from New Castle and ECIC, sending 11 wrestlers to regional, a record eight wrestlers to semi-state, and having Dakota Sprunger finish our season at the state finals.

Thank you to our seniors Dakota Sprunger, Wyatt Mann, and Nathan Plattner. They had a great impact on our program, and we look forward to them running Gold Club next year. Really excited for everyone else coming back, and already looking forward to next season!

Middle school wrestlers won the ACAC tournament, the Jay County Invite, and were runner-ups at the AC Invite. Middle schoolers looked great all season and showed a lot of improvement from day one to conference. Excited for this incoming group of eight graders to join the high school squad next season!

South Adams middle schoolers are ACAC champions!!! SA gets 3 finals pins in the last four matches of the night with Kannen Schwartz pinning his opponent at heavyweight to seal the deal by two points! And this was more than the back of the lineup pulling it out. We got big wins all day across the lineup. Several guys reversed matches they lost earlier in the season to help pull out the win.

South Adams put 15 of 20 wrestlers in the finals, coming away with 7 champions! Champions are Keegan McCroskey, Jamison Patterson, Grady Goodman, Cam Bauman, Grady Steiner, Zerick Mosser, and Kannen Schwartz. Runner-ups were Jaxson Thieme, Cael Gentis, Finn Shuck, Nashon Ramirez, Trevor Summersett, Emmit Seip, Kaleb Roll, and Julian Jenkins.

Congratulations to Cam Bauman on finishing his eighth grade season undefeated! And congrats to Cam Bauman, Grady Steiner, Zerick Mosser, and Kannen Schwartz on going 3-0 in tournaments this season!

Last folkstyle tournaments of the season for our high schoolers. We had a group go to Southmont for 1A/2A state where Max Adams was your 1A/2A state champion! Brock Sprunger finished in 6th place, Eli Loshe went went 2-2, and Titus Loshe went 0-2.

Andols Banter went to Columbus for ISWA Folkstyle State and went 1-2.

Really proud of these to guys to keep pushing and seeking out competition state wide. Now on to freestyle season!

South Adams middle school wrestlers come away with six champions and fall one point shy of a team title at the AC Invite! Champions were Carter Huntley, Cam Bauman, Grady Steiner, Zerrick Moser, Maddix Fisher, and Kannen Schwartz. Runner-ups were Keegan McCroskey, Carl Gentis, Finn Shuck, Trevor Summersett, Javier Fernandez, Kaleb Roll, and Julian Jenkins.

Starfires finish their season this Thursday night hosting the ACAC tournament. Come out and cheer them on!

We have some individual records updates following this season!

Senior Wyatt Mann set the record for most tech falls in a season with 13. The prior record holder was head coach Sawyer Miller with 10. Dakota Sprunger tied Sawyer’s previous record for tech falls this season with 10 as well.

Wyatt also set the career mark for escapes with 108. The prior record holder was Ben Wanner with 87.

Senior Dakota Sprunger finished his career in the top ten in wins and pins. Dakota graduates with 119 wins and 66 pins. His 37 wins on the season tie for the eight most wins in a single season all time at South Adams.

South Adams sends a few wrestlers down to Frosh Soph state to compete with some of the best young guys in the state. Max Adams injury defaults out in the round to place with Braxtyn Hough losing in sudden victory two matches before placing. Brock Sprunger also picked up some wins. Way to keep getting better guys! Be on the lookout for them all offseason!
