🚲 Island Bicycles Location Reminder 🚲

It’s hard to believe that we’re already starting our fifth week in our new location!

For those who may not know, Island Bicycles has moved from Long Beach Road to:

📍 5533 Rob Gandy Blvd, Southport

If you’re wondering where that is, we’re located just off Highway 87 (River Road), along the route to the Fort Fisher and Bald Head Island ferries. You’ll find us between Atlantic Foot Care and the Southport Coffee Hut, just past the new Turtle Bay development and not far from Ace Hardware.

We’re also pleased to remind everyone that our expanded hours are now:

🕘 Tuesday–Saturday
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

One thing we’d like to mention is that while we do not offer bike rentals, we do receive a lot of inquiries about them. What we do specialize in is bicycle and e-bike sales, professional service, and helping riders get the most enjoyment out of their bikes.

Whether you need a repair, have questions about bike fit, are curious about electric-assist bikes, or simply need some local cycling advice, our friendly and experienced team is here to help.

Thank you to everyone who has visited us since the move. We appreciate the warm welcome and look forward to seeing both familiar and new faces in the weeks ahead.

See you at the shop!

🚲 Good Morning from Island Bicycles! 🚲

As we enter our second week at our new location, 📍5533 Rob Gandy Blvd in Southport, I would like to thank everyone who stopped by last week. It was great seeing so many familiar faces, and we truly appreciate all the positive comments about the new shop.

While we’re still unpacking from the move and putting the finishing touches on the showroom, we’re also staying busy servicing bikes and building new bikes and e-bikes for the sales floor.

A reminder that we have expanded our hours and are now open:
🕘 Tuesday–Saturday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

One question we get asked frequently is, “How often should I put air in my bike tires?”

Unlike car tires, bicycle tires naturally lose air over time and should be checked at least once a week. Proper tire pressure is one of the easiest ways to improve your ride and reduce flats.

A few tips:
• Use a quality bike pump with a pressure gauge
• Check the recommended pressure printed on the tire sidewall
• As a general rule, inflate to about 5 PSI below the tire’s maximum rated pressure (for example, if the tire says 65 PSI max, aim for about 60 PSI)

Keeping your tires properly inflated helps them roll more efficiently and makes them less susceptible to punctures from the notorious coastal thorns we encounter here in Brunswick County.

If you have questions about tire pressure, bike maintenance, or need help choosing a good floor pump, stop by and see us. We’re always happy to help.

See you at the shop or out on the road!

🎉 Good Morning from the NEW Island Bicycles! 🚲

After a very productive Memorial Day weekend, we are officially moved out of our Long Beach Rd location and into our new home at:

📍 5533 Rob Gandy Blvd

We will OPEN this morning at 9:00 AM!

We’re also excited to announce expanded hours:
🕘 Tuesday–Saturday | 9 AM – 5 PM

The new location is looking fantastic, and I want to give a huge thank you to my staff — Nic, Andrew, Jon, and Karsen — who worked incredibly hard packing up the old shop and setting up the new one over the holiday weekend.

We’re still putting the finishing touches on everything, and you may notice a few bike boxes around the showroom. That’s because we also received our first shipment of new bikes at the new location on Friday!

A few exciting things happening right now:
- The TREK Townie Go! S has been a huge success, and we currently have all colors in stock
- The all-new TREK Charter+ has arrived — blending comfort, versatility, and electric assist into one great-looking bike

And later this summer, TREK has another exciting bike announcement coming that I think many of our customers are going to be very interested in, so stay tuned around the July 4th timeframe 👀

Thank you again to everyone who has supported us throughout this journey. We look forward to welcoming you into Brunswick County’s new local bike shop!

🚲 Big News from Island Bicycles 🚧

We are officially beginning our move to the new location!

Starting Thursday, May 21st and continuing through the Memorial Day weekend, we’ll be making the biggest phase of our transition to the new shop at:
📍 5533 Rob Gandy Blvd

Thursday & Friday our current showroom will look noticeably reduced as inventory moves to the new building.

Saturday we will be CLOSED as we relocate the service department and complete the major move.

We are doing everything we can to keep service moving and continue our promise to get you out riding. We appreciate your patience during this busy holiday weekend transition.

If you call and reach voicemail, please rest assured we will return your call as quickly as possible.

If all goes according to plan, we expect to OPEN at the new location on:
🕘 Tuesday, May 26th at 9:00 AM

We’re also excited to announce that with the opening of the new shop, Island Bicycles will now be open until 5 PM Tuesday through Saturday.

Thank you again for all the encouragement and support throughout this process. We cannot wait to welcome you into Brunswick County’s new local bike shop.

Have a safe and Happy Memorial Day weekend 🇺🇸

🚲 A Little Sneak Peek Inside the New Island Bicycles 🚧

We know it’s been a couple of weeks since our last update, but things have been moving fast behind the scenes as we push toward opening the new shop.

The exterior of the building is now essentially complete, so this week we thought we’d share a small look inside as the space continues to come together. There’s still construction protection down and plenty left to finish, but you can finally start to get a feel for the showroom and layout taking shape.

Over the past few weeks we’ve continued:
- outfitting the service department
- moving fixtures and storage systems
- setting up retail displays
- preparing for the transition from our current location

At the same time, we’re still fully operating at:
📍 4324 Long Beach Road

Spring riding season is here, service remains busy, and we truly appreciate everyone’s patience as we balance day-to-day operations while building Brunswick County’s next local bike shop.

Thank you again for all the encouragement, comments, and support throughout this process. Seeing the excitement from the community has meant a great deal to us.

More updates soon — and yes… we’re getting close.

🚧 Big Progress at Island Bicycles 🚲

We’re getting close.

The new shop is really taking shape, and we’ve seen some big strides toward opening:

* Showroom floor is complete
* Retail displays are installed
* Service department is coming together
* Driveway and sidewalks are poured
* Electrical trim-out is underway

Next up—signage and landscaping, both coming soon.

We’ve also started moving in key fixtures, including bike service storage, boxed bike storage, and our service check-in/out counter. It’s exciting to see it all come together.

In the meantime, it’s full service at our current location:
📍 4324 Long Beach Road

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be carefully staging our move to minimize any disruption for you.

TrekFest is happening now through April 19th 🎉
Get 20% off Trek and Bontrager accessories with the purchase of a new bike (some restrictions apply). We’re well stocked with bikes and e-bikes—now’s a great time to stop in.

Thanks for all the support and kind comments along the way. We’re proud to be Brunswick County’s local bike shop and can’t wait to welcome you into the new space soon.

🚧 Island Bicycles Build Update — 7 Weeks to Go 🚲

We’re now within 7 weeks of completing our new shop—and things are really taking shape.

With underground utilities connected and exterior finishes wrapping up, our focus is shifting inside:
• Interior painting is underway
• Next up: lighting and final interior finishes
• Then we begin outfitting the store

We’re getting close, and we can’t wait to share the new space with you.

In the meantime, it’s business as usual at our current location—and Spring is in full swing. Service has been coming in at a steady pace, so if your bike needs attention, now’s the time to get on the schedule.

Also, TrekFest is right around the corner 👀
Stay tuned—there will be some great opportunities for savings.
