HS Hitter Progress Update⬇️

A big focal point for Liam has been eliminating his shift forward after front foot strike. This led to his barrel flattening before the swing started, which caused a down and around bat path that made it difficult to find good timing

Once the season ended, we immediately made the change to have his timing go from “toe down early, then launch” to “whole foot down and go”. This eliminated time for his body to shift forward, allowing him to stay behind the ball and create a bat path that enters the zone deep and stays in the zone long.

It was important to wait for the season to end to make this change, as changing the timing mechanism of a hitter mid season can often lead to a lot of overthinking and inconsistency while they’re trying to figure out their new timing mechanism.

Excited to see his new moves start to show up this fall in spring as he begins his sophomore season!

When you were 10 you weren’t focused on failure. You were excited for the chance to strike that guy out, or hit a home run.

Somewhere along the way, you lost that.

The best players in the world have the same unwavering belief you had when you were 10

If you ever want the chance to maximize your potential, you need to have the same mindset you had when you were 10 years old

These are called constraints, and they play a major role in how you move. It’s your coaches job to understand these factors and be able to manipulate them to create high level performance

Connection Drill⬇️

The connection drill is a staple drill for our athletes. It gives the instant feeling of staying connected to the body and letting the back shoulder lead the hands to the ball.

Important things to watch for:

-Maintain connection until extension, not through the whole swing
-Hold posture over the plate to avoid rolling over
-look for a line drive to CF for a good rep

5 Minute Pre Throw Routine to make sure you stay healthy all season

Before touching a baseball, it’s important to make sure the arm is fully warm and ready to handle the stresses of throwing.

A good Pre Throw routine will prepare vulnerable structures in the arm to handle stress, while also increasing mobility and scapular mechanics

This routine only takes 5 minutes, use it to ensure you stay healthy all season
