I'm Tim Guinane, the owner of Around the Plate Sports. I've been coaching kids from ages 4-19 years old for over 25 years. I've coached both boys and girls and had some of the best times of my life doing it. Growing up, I played baseball from Little Leagu

e through college at St. John's University. I also grew up and spent a huge amount of time around some of the best fast pitch softball in the country/world. I'm a former Board Member and President of the Grapevine Girls Softball Association. If you ask parents and players I've coached, they will probably mention that I seem to have a knack for getting kids to understand the skill they're attempting to learn. When I coach, it's always a conversation and not a lecture with the kids. I always strive to get kids to understand how and why we're asking them to perform a skill in a particular way. I want them to take ownership of the skills they learn, because ultimately it's their game not mine nor their parents. My Dad was one of my coaches growing up and has always been a great instructor. He always loved to say he used the K.I.S.S. Method of teaching. (Keep It Simple Stupid). Pitching and hitting can be very technical and difficult skills to learn. Remembering to use the K.I.S.S. method really does help kids learn the skills very quickly.
