August 1, Shooting Returns

Hello everyone,

Hope everyone is staying safe and well. We finally have some good news. The California Golden Bears Trap Club can begin shooting the day shoot on August 1st, 2020. Our format will continue as in the past (50 singles, 50 handicap, and 50 doubles). Prizes will be as before with one exception, we will not be shooting for year-end belt buckles for 2020. With that said, we also will not be collecting dues for 2020. The cost will be $21.00 per event, plus $5.00 administration (daily) fee. We will be required to maintain social distancing and it is mandatory to wear a mask at all times except while in the process of shooting. L.A. Clays opens at 9:00 am, and we will try to get started as soon as possible. Sign-ups will be on the field (we will find out which field on August 1st).

As of this date, it has not been determined when we can start the night shoot.

Betsy, Tim, and all the staff are looking forward to meeting all of us and having a long shooting relationship with the Bears. Hope to see all of you Saturday, August 1st, at L.A. Clays!!!!

We would like to welcome new members Percy Lucket and Paul Caringella. Please to have you join the Bears and hope you shoot well.

This month’s Bill and Ruthie Hunter Money Clip winner was Bob English. If you’re fortunate enough to win this award, Bill Hunters phone number is included with the clip. Please let him know that we deeply appreciate all of his support.

Our night shoot had 7 shooters. We had a low turnout due to the threat of rain, but turned out to be a very nice night. Tony Bonofiglio was champion with a 49; good shooting Tony!!

Golden Bear Members would like to thank J.C. Oil Well Products for a very generous donation. This donation will allow us to give out bigger prizes for day shoot class winners and a $50.00 purse for the High Overall Champion, beginning with the January 2017 shoot. In case there is a tie for High Overall Champion, the winner will be determined by a carryover. As of this date, the prize for the class wins have not been determined, but some of the ideas are for silver coins, silver bars, Golden Bear coffee mugs, or embroidered hand towels. If you have an idea or would like to let me know your preference on the above prizes, please let me know.

The 2016 awards have been ordered and should be arriving mid February. I am in the process of confirming a location and date for the awards banquet and will let everyone know as soon as I do. Thank you for your patience.
