I am posting this on Facebook because in all of the people to thank I am sure I missed mailing a card to someone. I wanted to make this thank you public for anyone I missed.
During this holiday season it is a time to be thankful for the people in our lives. I thought it was only appropriate to send out a Thank you card to all of the board members of the Altoona Area Teener league, the 14 year old Allstar coaches, and the many business that donated money, gift cards, and food for the team. When this team began their journey not many thought the team would end up making it two games away from the 14 year old Mid Atlantic World Series in Texas. As exciting and challenging the weeks were... it was a juggling act for all involved to spend 4 days in Philly and and almost 2 weeks in Williamsport (due to rain). Due to the fact that the tournament was extended so long we even needed additional players to step up and fill in. The team would not have been able to do it without the support of our families, the league and the community.

So proud of the altoona 14u team. In Monday’s game, we were down, and then came the rain. Game got delayed. The team had the option to concede or fight the coaches and parents left the decision up to our boys... Our boys took a vote and chose to fight ( I would expect no less from them)... This team fought.. And fought.. the past few weeks.....unfortunately the rain continued... All games were posponed. An inning and a half left, we were down 14-9. Babe Ruth League said they could come back and play the rest out today... The Rain looked like it was going to continue all week and in order for the MidAtlantic champions to go to the National tournament in Texas this tournament needed to wrap up soon. It was already behind schedule because of the weather the last 10 days. A decision was made in the the best interest of the Mid Atlantic Regional tournament and the team, it was decided that we would consider last nights game against Clifton Park, NY as a completed game. With that, our journey in the regionals has ended with a 3rd place finish and the top team in PA. Great job by our players, our manager Travis Hamilton, his coaching staff and the parents for their commitment and dedication.

Well, it’s raining again! In the 5th inning if our game. Down 14/9. Game put on hold. The Babe Ruth organization has never not played all the innings in a game since this is for the National championship.So, the boys hang out in the dug out with a sharpie and ball... throwing them back and forth with the other team playing tick tack toe. We won by the way! They decided to play hot potatoes in the rain with s baseball. So, we decided since we have 3 hours we all cane to Buffalo Wild Wings!

So the only teams left are the NJ State champions, the NJ runners up and us. Go gettem boys!

Our 14s lost to a very good Atlantic Shore, NJ state champs, team today. We do not lose hope though as we play tomorrow at 11 am against the winner of UDHL, PA champs and Clifton Park, NY. With only one lose the Championships are still a possibility. We are proud of what you've done do far and believe you can continue your winning ways. Go Altoona!!!!
