There are moments in this game that hit different, and yesterday was one of them.

Congratulations to on his commitment to

Micheal’s journey hasn’t been the easy one. He moved to Fairfield Warde before his junior year and trust me, I know first hand how hard that is. New school. New teammates. New expectations. New voices in the background.

And he heard all of the whispers…from kids to adults who thought they had him figured out before he ever even got the chance to figure himself out.

Most kids fold under that kind of pressure.

Micheal didn’t.
He worked. He listened. He failed. He got back up. He absorbed every hard truth, even when I was brutally honest, definitely more honest than he wanted most of the time. But instead of breaking, slowly but surely, he built himself stronger.

He chose the hard way.
He chose growth over ego.
He chose perseverance over excuses.

And that’s why we’re here today.

He didn’t just prove people wrong…he proved himself right.

To watch a kid face doubt, face discomfort, face adversity and still keep swinging until the world has no choice but to respect him!!??? Man that’s the s**t that’s special. That’s the stuff that’s rare.

Unless you’re part of our family over here. Then you already know thats what we do. That’s who the Fairfield Nationals and CT Dawgs are. Built different.

From the first-ever Fairfield Nationals 11u team back in 2018, to the college mound.

At 11 years old, was ultra competitive. Incredibly hard on himself.
He’d be devastated after walking a hitter and furious after getting out. Not because he was a baby or weak or selfish or whatever else coaches tell those kinds of kids.
It was because it mattered to him. He wanted to succeed. He expected more from himself. In short, the kid was a winner.

That fire never left.
It grew. It shaped him.
It made him the pitcher, and the person he is today.

Last year, lost their Ace, Austin Howard. Out of seemingly no where, in stepped Colin with exactly zero varsity innings under his belt; and he absolutely shoved all year.

Colin Stowell is now officially committed to pitch at Endicott College.

What started as a kid who couldn’t stand failure…
became a young man who refused to accept limits.

The fire never faded, it evolved into a college baseball player.

Endicott just got a dawg. 🐾🔥

Couldn’t be more proud.

I’ve coached Austin Howard and his brothers since 2018. I’ve watched him grow from a chubby faced, happy go lucky kid who loved the game, into a young man built out of steel.

In 2024, Austin had one of the greatest pitching seasons in Fairfield Warde history. A 0.00 ERA as a junior, 1st team All State. Pure dominance.

He had earned a commitment to the University of Louisville, one of the top programs in the country. Everything he had worked for was right in front of him.

Then came the setback no player ever wants to face Tommy John. And on the same phone call where Austin told Louisville he needed surgery, they decommitted him and never spoke to him again.

Most players would have folded right there. Most would have lost faith.

Austin didn’t.

He put his head down and went to work. Rehab became his new competition. Every day was a battle. Rebuilding an arm. Rebuilding belief. Rebuilding a dream.

He made the toughest decision a kid can make. He left his friends and teammates and transferred schools to reclassify at Avon Old Farms, sacrificing his senior year at Warde to chase the long-term vision.

That is commitment at a level most people will never understand.

And now, after every setback, every rep, every lonely rehab session, every moment of doubt, Austin Howard is officially committed to play Division I baseball at the United States Military Academy, Army.

There is something poetic about that. Because Army doesn’t recruit comfort.
They recruit young men who have been tested and refused to break.

That’s Austin Howard in a nutshell.

He earned this through his grind, his toughness, and his belief.

He never quit.

That is what being a Dawg is all about.

Proud doesn’t even begin to describe it Austin. LFG!!!

“Having being able to play Fairfield Nationals and CT Dawgs with Maxx has been nothing short of a blessing. I was fortunate enough to meet Maxx when I was 8 years old and he took me under his wing and never looked back. He has taught me so many lessons over the years not just about baseball, but about life. The culture Maxx and all of his teams over the past few years have built is special, and there is proof. I’m so happy I could say I’ve been apart of those teams and was able to contribute to what he has built in just a few years. It truly is special and you don’t really realize it until you are apart of it and feel what it feels like to be apart of it. I’m so grateful I ran into Maxx back when I was just 8 years old because without him I have no idea where I would be in this game. What he is doing with the Nationals and Dawgs is truly special and is without a doubt the best around.”

Could today get any better for our little baseball circle tucked into half of Fairfield?

Yes, it just did. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The Fairfield National Little League district team just won the Connecticut State Championship, taking down East Lyme in dominant fashion. Now they’re heading to Regionals, one step closer to Williamsport.

I started with 10 of these 12 kids when they were 9 years old. Over the last three years all 12 have worn Fairfield Nationals jerseys and they’ve gone 40-0 in tournament play. That number isn’t a fluke; it’s a reflection of years of work, belief, and brotherhood.

These boys have grown up together. They’ve built something real, and now the whole state knows it.

In the last 24 hours, Carson Dodder committed to Duke. Jimmy Dobbs committed to Maryland. And now this team just stamped its name in Connecticut baseball history.

This is what happens when a community believes in its kids. When the work gets done behind the scenes together, instead of pulling for whats best for just you. When the name on the front of the jersey means everything.

Today is one we’ll never forget.

Let’s keep going. Williamsport’s waiting. .official

What a moment for our Fairfield Nationals and CT Dawgs family.

In just the last 24 hours, Carson Dodder committed to Duke and Jimmy Dobbs committed to Maryland.

Two Power 4 commitments. Two incredible young men. And I’ve had the honor of coaching them both since they were 8 years old.

If you’ve been part of this program, you know this goes way beyond baseball. It’s about belief. It’s about doing things the right way. It’s about the long days, the early mornings, the setbacks, the small wins that build into something bigger.

To commit to a Power 4 school in today’s recruiting world is a massive accomplishment. With how tough it is right now, how early the process starts, how crowded the landscape has become, this doesn’t happen by accident. It takes more than talent. It takes consistency, maturity, loyalty, and a deep love for the game.

Carson and Jimmy have always had that. They’ve led with humility. They’ve shown what it means to be relentless. And more than anything, they’ve helped shape the identity of this program.

Our entire community is proud beyond words.

This is special. Not just for them, but for every young Fairfield National and CT Dawg who’s watching and learning what’s possible when you fully commit.

Duke. Maryland. Two kids who started this journey at 8 years old just reached the highest level of amateur baseball.

Carson and Jimmy, thank you for everything. You’ve set the bar. You heard the whispers of the haters and the doubters and proved them wrong. You ignored the trends of today of going to endless showcases and team hopping.
Instead you chose to focus on development. Instead, you focused on your community. Instead, you chose to be a leader and carve your own path.

I couldnt possibly be more proud.

No matter where this game takes you, you’ll always be my little brothers.

Yeahh Rick!!! Another CT Dawg off the board 🐶

Couldn’t be happier for this kid. Getting an opportunity to play baseball for a great program with a top notch education. ⚾️📚

This dude can flat out rake and track it, and I’ve never seen someone throw out even half as many runners from the outfield as him 🔫🎯

The kid is a worker and I cannot wait to see him leave it on the field for one more season for before he heads off to Gettysburgh to continue pursuing his goals. Congratulations kid‼️
