On Friday we got approval for the alt pins! So on Friday, Matthew Griddlestone, Mary and Matthew Hess, and Kevin McDonnell worked to get holes 1 and 2 ready.
On Sunday, a massive workday was held, completing 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 14, 16. 12 is in progress and 18 is waiting in the wings, they both just need to be finished clearing.
An amazing amount of people came out, thank you to Marcus Salvatore and his dad for installing every sleeve, Tony Russo, Michael Mangus, Ross Behringer, Tom Grundtisch, Vinny Russo, Matt Barker, Kyle Smith, Matthew, Mary, and Ben Carnahan all gave their efforts to the course.
The pins are now all in alternate locations with the exception of 8, 9, 10, 12, 18. UDisc reflects these changes. If you plan to play, note that hole 1 has alternate Gold and Blue tees near the tee sign, the turf Gold tee is closed when the basket is in the alt.

The past few weekends have seen good progress made, Tony Russo did a great job cleaning up 6 near the basket from the large fallen tree, and then removing the old log between the Blue and Gold on 7.
The gap on hole 11 has been cleaned up a bit, the falling dead trees have been removed. This was largely for safety concerns, but it also opens the airspace of the clowns mouth to the intended size.
The Red tees have now all been located, marked with bricks, and painted. For those who are looking to practice for the Aberdeen Glass Open, they are ready to go. This is also a good time to play the Reds if you haven't before, it is a very fun layout!
Directional signage has been re-installed, they are red arrows with white numbers on discs around the course. This should help with new visitor navigation.
The course is now in its original layout, to give ample time for practice for the Aberdeen Glass Open round one. 3 short, 7 long, 13 short, 15 long, 17 short.

The past two weekends have seen work done to hole 3; pushing back the right side from the Gold tee, removing thorn bushes, digging drainage trenches, building a bridge, cleaning up the Red tee, and cleaning up fallen trees.

Pin locations have been moved to reflect the layout for the upcoming M&M @ Emery tournament on 4/9 and 4/10. 3 (short), 7 (short), 13 (long), 15 (short) and 17 (long). UDisc has been updated to reflect these changes. There are still a few spots available for this event, head to Disc Golf Scene to sign up.

Thanks to Tony Russo and Mama Hess for their efforts the past two weeks!

Yesterday before the snow fell, hole 11 between the Blue and White tee was addressed, pushing back the brush line. This will impact the Gold shot the most, giving a more fair and originally intended gap size.

Hole 2 near the white tee had thorn bushes and other generally unpleasant weeds growing, so that was cleaned up, and the old concrete pad that the tee sits on was uncovered. More to come with this spot as we connect the heritage of the park's past to the course today.

Than you to Mama Hess, and Tony Russo for their help!

The goal of this page will be to provide a timely and exciting track of things going on at Black Diamond; from improvements, volunteer efforts, tournaments and more. This will be the page to PM or post questions, concerns, issues, debates, problems, so on and so forth.
2021 marked the restoration of the Black Diamond Disc Golf Course at Emery County Park in South Wales, New York.
Thanks to MANY volunteers, the installation of the White and Gold tee pads were completed.
After park approval, we will have alternate pins installed in the near future 🤯. If you played the course in the last year, you likely played 3's long position, which has been there since day one, but never used; 7's original, longer position; 13's long; 15's original short; and 17's new long. New directional signage will be installed by early spring.
For 2022, the goal is also to install bridges and steps where needed, and lay wood chips down in wet areas.
Upkeep on the course will continue as we perfect lines, prune fairways, and remove thorn bushes.
With the help and dedication of all the wonderful volunteers and the cooperation of the park, we will continue to uphold and improve Black Diamond as a premier course in Western New York.
Welcome to the page!
-Matthew
