🚨 ALERT ALERT ALERT! 🚨 Check Your Flood Zone and Prepare for Evacuation! 🌊
My house is now classified in Flood Zone B instead of C, and recent developments and drainage issues have led to unprecedented flooding in our area. It’s crucial to stay informed and prepared!
Evacuation Checklist:
Emergency Kit
- Water (1 gallon per person per day for at least 3 days)
- Non-perishable food (3-day supply)
- Flashlight and extra batteries
- First aid kit
- Whistle to signal for help
- Moist towelettes and garbage bags for sanitation
- Local maps
- Important Documents
- Insurance policies
- Identification (driver’s license, passports)
- Medical records and prescriptions
- Emergency contact information
Home Preparation
- Secure your home (board up windows, bring in outdoor furniture)
- Turn off utilities (gas, water, electricity)
- Inform neighbors of your plans
Communication Plan
- Establish a family communication plan
- Designate an out-of-town contact person
Transportation
- Keep your vehicle fueled
- Have a spare tire and emergency kit in your car
Pets
- Don't forget them in your plan. See checklist below!
