A child’s brain development and future athleticism is crucial at an early age. Parents should teach their kids to do things that they don’t like, whether it’s boring technical drills or daily chores. Character isn’t built by always getting what you want, it’s built by learning how to handle the word “no”. In our house/gym, parents/coach call the shots, not the kids. Sobbing isn’t a strategy, and it shouldn’t be the answer when things don’t go their way. It’s important to teach them to do the hard things, the boring things and the things they simply don’t want to. If they only do what’s “fun”, they’ll never have the grit to do what’s necessary. There are a million reason to cry in this world, but not getting your way shouldn’t be one of em. Don’t wait until it’s too late to build that mental toughness. Be present, stay in charge, and build a character that can handle the REAL WORLD. Resilience is taught, not born. As parents, it’s our job to be the leaders. We have to get involved and build that strong character now. Real development starts with discipline. Athleticism isn’t just about talent,it’s about the mental capacity to handle things you dislike.
