We’re back at it on Sunday !!!!
SSFAC hopes to run their winning streak to 3 when they face Elk Grove’s Legends SC @ Crocker Amazon Park, Sunday January 25th at 4:00pm.
Legends SC took the first two meetings earlier this year, 3-0 in league action, and 3-1 in Cup play, so SSF is hoping that the third time is the charm.

In was a cold and damp Sunday night in San Francisco, and SSFAC had a very dificult match facing them in the 2nd game of the Abronzino Cup Group Stage. Bay Area United, a very good and dominating team from the UPSL was going to give SSF a serious challenge in their quest to get another important result in Cup play.

Things got off to a good start as the red hot Ferdy Ghafury provided SSF with an early lead off an assist from Omeed Miraftab-Salo. However, BAU wasn't that impressed as they quickly answered back 3 minutes later to level the score at 1 apiece. Both clubs worked hard to establish control but the match remained tied at the half.

The second half started with South City getting back into the lead as Diego Medina returning from injury, struck gold with another assist form Miraftab-Salo at minute 48. However, United took the kickoff and stormed right back to again level the score at 2 just one minute later. Now the game was on as both sides tried to find a winner and put the game away. United took the lead at 3-2 off a miscue from the South City defense in the 60th minute and seemd to be in the drivers seat, but SSF wasn't quite done yet.

They continued to put pressure on BAU, and while the midfield and defense did their jobs of containing United, SSF needed to find an equalizer as the match pushed towards fulltime. With just 2 minutes left in the match, Ferdy Ghafury put home his 2nd of the night off another Miraftab-Salo assist, his third on the night, to give SSFAC a well deserved 3-3 tie and pick up a huge point on the road in Cup play.

Next up for SSF is a return trip to San Francisco, this time to play league rivals Legends SC on Sunday, November 23rd at Franklin Square park with kickoff at 5:00pm

SSFAC responds to the “curse”, wins 4-3

The curse of Cayetano Park was ready to deliver another huge disappointment to SSFAC last Saturday night in Livermore as 3 quick goals found Dublin Celtic FC off to a 3-0 lead in the 27th minute. With Halloween in the rear view mirror, it was looking like a scary time for South City.
The fact that they didn’t give up 4 1st half goals like they had done in their 3 previous games was reason enough to hope for a potential change of fate. Omeed Miraftab-Salo cut into the lead with a strike in minute 35., but could SSF battle back and pull off a much needed win? YES they could !! SSF stormed back with 3 second half goals while holding Celtic scoreless and escaped Livermore with a 4-3 comeback victory.
Omeed with a 2nd goal, brother Rahi Miraftab-Salo with a tally and Ferdi Ghafury with the winner in the 83rd minute to put the “Curse of Cayetano Park” to rest until next season 😊

“Classico” Battle Ends in a Tie !
SSFAC and long time rivals Santa Clara Sporting were back at it again on Sunday and it lived up to the hype as the teams grinded it out for a 5-5 tie at El Camino High.
Things didn’t look good early on as SSF for the 3rd game in a row allowed 4 1st half goals to find themselves down 4-2 at the 45 minute mark. As the 2nd half got going, a comeback effort took a gut punch as South City was hit with a red card ejection leaving them to finish the match a man down, but they gathered themselves, tightened up the earlier miscues and roared back to earn the tie. Two goals from Ferdy Ghafury, and one each from Ilan Ladabaum, Jake de Souza, and Evan Ochoa were key in the effort to earn the result that seemed unattainable early on. Next up a trip to the East Bay to face Dublin Celtic FC next week

Silicon Valley FC hands SSFAC their 3rd straight loss
The start of the 2025-26 season has become a work in progress for South City as they are again on the wrong end of a quick 1st half start by their opponent. After working to tie the game at 1-1 early on, giveaways and defensive errors in their own end found them down by 4-1 at the half and left them again chasing the game in the remaining 45 minutes.
Settling down and playing themselves back into the match with a stronger effort saw the final result as a 5-2 defeat, but with something positive to carry them into their next match when they return home to face long time rival, Santa Clara Sporting on the 26th.

SSFAC won their 1st game of the season last evening when they defeated Atletico San Jose FC U23 by a score of 5-1. Two goals and an assist from Aidan Durgerian along with a goal and assist from Diego Medina helped guide the team to the victory. Goalkeeper Adrian Monroy was denied his first clean sheet of the season when Atletico tallied on a Penalty Kick at the stroke of full time.
The team now takes their 1-1 record to Elk Grove next Sunday night when they face Legends SC at the Bartholomew Sports Complex with kickoff set for 5:45pm

In Motion FC Spoils SSFAC Home Opener.

The defending Champs showed why they won 11 games and the Pacific Premier title last year as struck quickly & often taking a 4-0 lead just 28 mins. into the match. After dropping 2 close matches last season to IMFC by scores of 1-0 & 2-0, SSF was looking to break through with a result this time around, but giveaways in their own zone and not being able to deal with the long ball approach by their opponent led to their undoing. SSFAC tried to fight their way back into the match on the strength of 2 Aidan Durgerian goals, one right at the half and one early in the 2nd half, but an own goal and a late tally secured the 6-2 win for In Motion FC.
South City will now sort things out in training as they prepare for the first of back to back road games when they face Atletico San Jose FC U23 next Sunday night @ Watson Park in San Jose.
