Admission $20 / Sliding Scale It is danced to live music which can have an array of instruments depending on the band. There is a caller who calls the dance by doing a "walk through" before each dance. Once you get the steps to the dance, the pattern just repeats itself. E

very week, there is a 30 minute lesson before the dance evening begins to go over basic steps for beginners. But, the caller will also do a quick 5 minute review before each dance so you can still learn them if you missed the lesson. If you can walk, you can dance! People in the dance community are very nice and will help you if you do get lost or jumbled. Just remember to trust them when they lead you towards the right direction. My intent is to keep alive the tradition of American Folk Music overall, but I am here to promote a healthy strong dance community for the Los Angeles area. This is an open group so please invite your friends. Also, feel free to post any videos and photos related to our Contra dances as well. We are a friendly dance group who wants to share the fun with more new people. This is a great place to let loose, get some exercise, meet new friends, and listen to energetic live music.
