After a while you start to realize that fitness is not just about aesthetics but a form of self care. You start to understand that having this commitment with yourself is a form of self development. You start to grow physically and mentally. You teach your brain that the pain and discomfort is temporary and you will come out stronger. You start to find inner peace in the midst of all the crazy things happening around you. You develop a gratitude mentality when you learn that being consistent with your health and fitness brings you longevity and vitality for years to come. You become more mindful of the things you allow into your body and your mind. And you develop a growth mindset, knowing there is always room for improvement and that the best version of yourself is still to come. šŸ’Ŗ

When seeking weight loss, the priority is a calorie deficit. Eating healthy is different than eating healthy for fat loss.

In the picture I have a handful of blueberries (about 30 calories) vs a handful of nuts (about 200 calories). Both of them are considered a healthy food and there is nothing wrong with consuming them. However, when in a calorie deficit the priority should be the lower calorie options so that you are able to consume them in larger quantities. This can prevent extreme hunger throughout your dieting phase and help you adhere in the long run.

This is why I always say, fruit does not make you fat. Most fruits are low in calories and have lots of fiber and micronutrients.

I’m a personal fan of all berries! What are your favorite fruits?

I go through phases in my fitness journey where I feel like an imposter.

I love health and fitness but I also love to drink beer/wine/cocktails with friends and family when we are gathered.

I love to eat healthy and clean but I also like to go to nice restaurants and enjoy all the food and desserts.

I love lifting weights and feeling strong but I also love lazy days with my husband and my girls.

I would love to get to a very lean body fat percentage but I’m not willing to sacrifice all of the above to get there.

Even though I’m at a healthy weight there’s a lot of pressure in this industry to look a certain way. To eat certain foods. To have certain standards.

I’m just not interested.

I want the freedom to eat and drink what I want without fear of judgment.

Maybe I’m just different.

I’m not saying we should stuff our faces everyday and get drunk every night. There needs to be a healthy balance, of course. But why not make it a thing?

Having six pack abs does not equal happiness. For most people to get there it requires a lot of sacrifices. I don’t want to look like a fitness model if it means I will be miserable while doing it.

Life is too short!
Enjoy it however you do!
Forget social media standards!
Wear the two piece bathing suit even if you have rolls.
Wear the shorts even if you have cellulite.
But wear them confidently.
Eat the carbs and the occasional treats.
Have that glass of wine with your girlfriend.
Live your happiest life every single day.

In the end we only regret the things we did not do! šŸ–¤

Just a little reminder for all us ladies. We tend to compare our bodies to other women on social media. Angles, poses, lighting and posture have a huge impact on pictures. Don’t forget!

It’s totally okay to have an aesthetic goal for yourself but comparing your journey to someone else’s image is not healthy.

Social media does not tell the full story!

We all have different realities and starting points!

Be kind to yourself and pursue a path that brings you joy throughout your journey! ā™„ļø

2019 vs 2022 - Consistency is no joke! This is a 3 year difference but I’ve only been consistent since summer of 2020.

Between then and now my weight has fluctuated 5-10 lbs but I’ve been striving for strength gain and curves ( not really worrying about the scale).

I’m very pleased with what I’ve built so far and can’t wait to see my progress in the next few years!

I share this to inspire you to not give up if you don’t see changes in just a couple of months.

If your goal is to lose weight it will take a very long time and you must fall in love with the journey.

If your goal is to build muscle it will also take a long time and you must also fall in love with the journey.

It always amazes me to see how far I’ve come in strength and mindset.

My clients also amaze me with their consistent progress.

There’s nothing more gratifying than this and I’m so happy I stumbled upon this lifestyle.

I may not be the most experienced trainer yet (and I’m so hungry to learn more everyday) but I’ve been putting my heart in what I do. ā¤ļø

Consistency is the key to success. No matter the goal.

Want to lose body fat? Be consistent with a calorie deficit for a period of time.
Want to build muscle and look ā€˜toned’? Lift heavy weights and eat enough protein consistently.

Be clear about your goals and find the best sustainable plan that you can follow to get there. Just remember to keep it realistic and know that everything takes time. One week is not enough to lose 20lbs and giving up won’t get you there. Stay consistent with a plan that is sustainable (not starving yourself, not punishing yourself with tons of exercise). Results take time!

Be kind to yourself through the process! šŸ¤

🄲7 years - 20 pounds heavier šŸ’Ŗ

Many years of learning and struggling with inconsistency and a sea of different theories and information.

Today I stick with the basics. I train with the basic and simple exercises. I eat real food and don’t restrict myself. I listen to my body. I sleep. I expose my skin to the sun and my soul to nature. I cultivate meaningful relationships. I pursue my hobbies and creative interests.

The journey can seem repetitive but that’s consistency! We get a little stronger each day. Small everyday efforts that yield lifelong improvements!

I hope I can inspire you to do these things for yourself! You deserve it! šŸ–¤
