Our city council held a 10 hour “public comment meeting” which ended around 3AM. The purpose of the meeting was to vote on the proposed “Ceasefire Resolution” in the Israel-Hamas war. The resolution failed to pass. The council did adopt a substitute statement that called for “collaborative efforts supporting peaceful dialogue” which did not address a ceasefire in either Israel or Gaza. Those attending were not happy. One of them phoned a death threat to the Mayor.
After watching this on the evening news, I couldn’t believe how our society has changed.
What made this Mayor and city council believe that this resolution was worth10 hours of taxpayer time. Are they so delusional that they think their actions would result in the actual “Ceasefire” between Israel and Hamas? The same question can be asked of the people who participated in the 10 hour debate. Their outrage upon the failure of their “delusion of self importance” resulted in anger. I believe these people have been brainwashed by growing up in a narcissistic “everybody gets a trophy” society. Their pretentious “look at me” support for the Ceasefire Resolution movement in this country and around the world, with total disregard of the crimes against humanity by the Hamas, is beyond arrogant. In this world there are leaders and followers and it looks like we have raised a generation of followers.
