GEORGE - November 2012 School Horse of the Month
George, also known as “Jumpshot” is an Appendix Quarter Horse out of a Quarter Horse stallion from Utah named “Proudest Effort”. Perhaps that’s why George has been known to spook at his shadow occasionally. George’s coloring is chestnut. His markings include a white blaze on his face and one white sock on his hind left pastern. His height is 16.2 h
ands tall. He was born February 20, 1995 and is currently 19 years old. He goes in a 3 ring gag bit bridle. Rose Ranch has been George’s home since he was 3 years old. He was purchased in June 1998 when the Utah Jazz played the Chicago Bulls in the NBA playoff game series, hence, his name is “Jumpshot”. Before his career as a jumper, George was a race horse on the track. He has a lip tattoo and his racing name was “Proudest George”. George has won numerous UHJA year-end awards and is a very well known school horse at Rose Ranch. If you offer George a treat he will do his trick for you. He flips his upper lip almost inside out and shows off his tooth decay in a cheesy smile. He's a bit of a spook, but he's got a very energetic and smooth canter. He has been partnered with riders such as Molly Ver Meer, Dakoda Mower, Mollie Forbes Shutt, Jackie Hance, and many others. Have you ridden George? Tell us about it.
