Karate Blast

Tomorrow will be our last class before we close. Anyone who has been a part of Karate Blast over the years is more than welcome to join us as we say goodbye.

Class will be 5:30-6:30/6:45 and then whoever would like to come, we’ll head to Culver’s for some ice cream.

We have no specific plans other than laughing remembering and enjoying our last night of class.

I can’t thank everyone enough for making this dream a reality for all these years!

ANNOUNCEMENT OF CLASS CLOSURE:

Summer of 2015 we threw a very basic 6 week beginner karate class in a park. We called it Karate Blast because it was just a quick “BLAST” of karate lol never intending to keep that name but 6 weeks later when everyone was begging for more and we found our first space for a regular class THAT NAME HAD STUCK!!!!

9 years later we have been blessed and humbled to have taught so many different kids, teens, and adults! And we hope touch a life or two along the way! We’ve made more than karate friends…..we’ve made karate family that will always be in each others lives. We’ve encouraged respect, focus, discipline, kindness, self-control, physical fitness, and self defense!

Now we are sad to announce that this particular chapter is coming to a close. Our last class will be March 25, 2024. After that we will be closing Karate Blast indefinitely. This decision is made with a broken heart, a lot of tears, and a hope that even in this we can teach our students when it is time you have to move through different seasons and embrace change even with the grief and loss you feel through it.

Coach Jo wants everyone to know what this class means to her and what all of you mean to her. That you’ve allowed her to teach, mold, encourage, and maybe inspire you and your kids is something she has not taken lightly. The season of life Coach is currently in is such that her schedule has to focus her time on her family and we’ve already had such an outpouring of love and support for that.

We will miss the regular weekly time of seeing each of you who are current students/family. And to anyone who has ever attended a class or enrolled your child in our class, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this dream a reality!

Anyone who has ever attended class and would be willing to stop by on March 25th for our goodbye class is so welcome! We would love a group picture with as many of the wonderful people we’ve come to know the last 9 years as possible!

Ages 8-adult (ages 8-12 must have an adult attend and participate in the class with them)

No sign up necessary. Walk-ins are welcome

Class is 100% free!!! We are passionate that everyone have the ability to protect themselves- physically, mentally, and emotionally. Donations for self defense mats are appreciated so that we can continue offering more classes.

All participants must fill out class waivers.

Feel free to wear anything loose and comfortable for class. No uniform required. Bring water and expect to move and be active. Be aware we match our teaching to the ability of the students so that everyone can have self defense instruction! So please come join us regardless of your physical ability!

Classes for 2023 will be on Mondays, 5:30-6:30 Traditional Karate and 6:30-7:30 Self-Defense. We are currently accepting ages 8-adult. Contact us for information on cost.
