UMass Dressage Team Informational page for the University of Massachusetts Dressage Team, member of the Intercollegiate

The University of Massachusetts Dressage Team is an equestrian club sport offered at the UMass Amherst, and a member of Region B of the Intercollegiate Dressage Association. UMDT is a small, close-knit team of athletes aiming to improve their equestrian skills, compete individually and as a team, and have fun! Members practice twice weekly, and attend competitions throughout each semester at other

universities in the IDA. Prospective members must have basic riding skills, and dressage experience is not required. UMDT rides at Muddy Brook Farm, about 10 minutes from the UMass campus. The farm can be reached via bus or carpool with team members. Tryouts for the Fall 2016 semester will be held at Muddy Brook Farm on Monday, September 14th at 5:30 pm. See our Campus Pulse page to contact us and for more information.

We will be taking part in the Spring 2021 RSO Activities Expo tomorrow from 2PM-6PM hosted on Zoom via Campus Pulse! While our club’s activity level this semester is uncertain due to the pandemic, we are still looking to recruit new horse-loving members! More information about the Activities Expo can be found on the UMass Amherst Campus Pulse website where our Zoom link will be provided. Feel free to pop in to ask any questions or just to chat!

One year ago today, Muddy Brook Farm, our barn and second home to many, had a devastating fire. We lost all of our supplies, tack, and three of our beloved horses. The weeks following the fire were a whirlwind of stress and uncertainty, but we were overwhelmed by the kindness and love from the town of Amherst, Region B, and the equestrian community as a whole. From countless donations from both friends and complete strangers to words of encouragement to volunteers taking time out of their busy lives to help us push forward… we saw all of it and will be forever grateful.

One year later, we are in the process of rebuilding and looking forward to the future! We could not have done it without all of you, or without our amazing coaches here at MBF, Morgan Lynch and Kathy Roberts. From the bottom of our hearts here at UMass Dressage, thank you. ❤️

Trinket, Noah, and Leah were amazing ponies and loved by all at MBF. Leah was a favorite among many in our region for IEA, IHSA, and IDA competitions, especially here at UMDT. If you have any fond memories or photos of these wonderful horses, please share in the comments below! We would love to hear them and spread some positivity in their memory.

We are so grateful for all of you. Hug your ponies extra tight for us today! 💚💛

To say we are thankful is an understatement. We are incredibly grateful for all the love we’ve received in the past few weeks. From donations to words of encouragement, we have been overwhelmed by the kindness of the equestrian community. We are so thankful to have such a supportive region, this team, our real-life-superwoman Coach Kathy, and of course our beloved horses. Our farm is our family, and we are so lucky to be a part of it. Don’t forget to hug your ponies today! We hope everyone has a lovely Thanksgiving! ❤️🦃
