Mount Holyoke Dressage Team

Mount Holyoke Dressage Team As a team we help students learn and grow throughout their time spent at Mount Holyoke, uniting students through their love for the sport of dressage.

Our mission, as a member of the Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA), is to introduce students to the equestrian discipline of dressage and to foster continued development and appreciation in dressage through student competitions and educational opportunities. Students are able to learn and compete in dressage throughout their four here, while building lifelong friends and connections with their fellow teammates.

We canโ€™t wait to watch our teammate Leah Drew ride in the NEDA Symposium this weekend!

For our next demo rider, welcome back Leah!
Leah Drew is an 18-year-old FEI Young Rider from Lincoln, Massachusetts, and a freshman on the dressage team at Mount Holyoke College. Leah has been working with Hope Cooper and Jane Karol at Bear Spot Farm in Concord Massachusetts since 2021. She competes two horses, Jazz Beat and Damons Davian, at the young rider level. In 2022, she was ranked #1 in the country at the FEI Junior level on Jazz Beat, and in 2023, she was ranked in the top 5 on both horses, also at the FEI Junior level. She has competed at USA Dressage Festival of Champions and the North American Youth Championships, taking a bronze medal in each in 2023. This season, she stepped up to the FEI Young Rider level, qualifying both horses for the USA Dressage Festival of Champions, while finishing her last semester of high school. Leah works full time at Bear Spot in the summers and winters, and is in the process of obtaining her Massachusetts Riding Instructor License. Leahโ€™s goals are to become a professional dressage rider and trainer and aspires to one day represent the United States in the Olympics.
Damons Davian (Dezi) in a 2011 Westphalian gelding (Damons Hill x Nubile 13 x Newcastle). Leah began working with Dezi in the fall of 2022, competing at the FEI Junior level and qualified for the 2023 North American Youth Championships, taking 3rd in the team test and anchoring team region 8 to a bronze medal. They then placed 5th in the FEI Juniors at the US Dressage Festival. In 2024, they moved up to the FEI Young Rider division, qualifying for the 2024 USA Dressage Festival of Champions. In training, they are schooling the I-1 and U-25 levels. Their goals for next season are to compete the CDIYs, earn a spot on the USA Dressage Young Rider European Tour, and make their small tour debut.
