Thunder Parents! Swim Team is 99% a go! Just waiting on our HOA to approve pool opening guidelines. Here is what was just sent out. Registration is open until we hit capacity of 64 kids. Hello Thunder Parents!
Woohoo! Thornwood Thunder is a go! It's not 100% official as our HOA board has to approve the opening procedures for the pool but that will happen on Monday unless 2020 decides otherwise. I know many of you, like myself, are super excited to get back into the pool.
With that said, we have a lot of new policies for this summer so please read this email carefully.
- Registration is open now and will remain open until we hit 64 swimmers or June 18th at midnight. Which ever comes first.
- Capacity is set at a maximum of 64 swimmers. This is based on practice times and kids per lane
- The price for this season was never increased from the original $155/swimmer back in March. It will stay at this price point.
- You can get a 100% refund up until June 18th, 2020 if you decide that you do not want to participate in swim team this summer if you have already registered. After June 18th, 2020 there is ZERO refund.
- There are FOUR practice sessions each day. They are 7am-7:40, 7:45-8:25, 8:30-9:10, 9:15-9:55. The 5 minutes in between are to clear the pool and clean the high touch points
- There is a max of 2 swimmers per lane. Swimmers will be grouped with similar ability and ages. Coaches will have a max 6 kids they are instructing at a time.
- On Saturday June 20th you will receive an email with your child's LANE and PRACTICE schedule. I will do my best to group families together as well as kids of same ages.
- Swimmers will either have an alternating schedule between 2 of the 4 practice times or a rotating A, B, C, D schedule. This is TBD and will be completed once I have the full roster.
- All families will have to sign a waiver of release releasing myself, the coaches, the swim team, our HOA, and our management company. This is in addition to any release that the HOA makes you sign to enter the pool.
- All swimmers will need to show up READY to practice as there is only 5 minutes in between sessions.
- Any swimmer who is NOT feeling well should remain home until symptoms clear. Symptoms include, but are not limited to, fever, runny nose, cough, sneezing, etc… Any swimmer who is seen showing symptoms will be asked to go home and must stay home from practice a minimum of 7 days from the last day without symptoms.
- All swimmers must provide their own kick board. If a swimmer does not have a kick board, we will loan one for the summer on a first come first get basis. The kick board is the responsibility of the swimmer and replacements will cost $25.
- Our littlest swimmers we typically have a coach and/or a junior coach in the water and that will still happen ONLY at the discretion of the parent of the child. All parents who have a child who would be considered part of our pre-team must give consent for a coach to be in the water with their child.
- Parents are allowed to attend practice but MUST sit inside the baby pool area or around the mushroom. Parents will be asked to practice proper social distancing while on the pool deck.
- Swimmers must enter via side entrance and not through locker rooms. Locker rooms will be open for bathroom use only.
Due to the craziness of this year, all swimmers registered for this season will receive this year's pricing for next season. That will include any of the scheduled price increases that were supposed to happen this year but I did not impose.
First day of practice is tentatively scheduled to be Monday June 22nd. Please note that our first day of practice the kids will only be in the water for 30 minutes so we can work out the kinks with getting kids to the right lanes, handing out kkckboards, etc… Starting on Tuesday the swimmers will have the full 40 minutes.
As always, any questions, just reach out and ask.
See you on the pool deck.
