Great Run Club this morning! 🏃♂️🥋💪
Today it was just Jesse, his dad, and me out there getting some work in.
Jesse hit the track and ran continuously for 40 minutes, while his dad took advantage of the outdoor gym, doing pull-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, and running the stairs.
And then there was me. 😂
I’ve been dealing with a hamstring injury, and my knee has been pretty sore, so running was definitely not something I planned on doing today.
But I didn’t want Jesse out there running by himself, so I decided to join him.
I couldn’t keep up with Jesse, but that wasn’t the point. I did eight laps, alternating between jogging and walking, while Jesse just kept going.
It reminded me of something we talk about in martial arts all the time.
Sometimes the people around us push us to do things we wouldn’t necessarily choose to do on our own.
You don’t have to be the fastest person out there. You don’t have to be able to do what someone else can do. Sometimes you just need to be willing to show up, challenge yourself, and do what you can do.
Today Jesse was the one who pushed me.
He ran for 40 minutes straight. I got my eight laps in. Mr. Santos got a great workout in at the outdoor gym.
Three people. Three different workouts. All of us putting in the work. 💪
Great job today, Jesse and Mr. Santos!
That’s what Run Club is really about. Not just running, but showing up, challenging ourselves, and getting a little better together. 👊🥋🏃♂️
