We are excited to have the one and only Tim Flagler teach a class at the shop. Space is limited!!

Hi Everyone! For those of you in the Northeast, Tim Flagler will be teaching a fly tying class at the Deerfield Fly Shop in S. Deerfield, MA on Wed, May 13th!

Join Tim as he teaches tying a variety of his favorite late spring flies. Tim is well known for his fly tying tips, tricks & techniques and this class’s patterns will incorporate many that can be used
over a wide range of other fly patterns as well.

TIME: 6-8 PM
Fee: $50
Bring: Vise, light, tools, thread.
Intermediate level.

The March Bugs and Beers is this Tuesday, March 10 at 6 PM at Tree House brewery. The theme for this week is stoneflies. Bring your vise and tools and black and yellow or tan thread in both 6/0 or 140 denier and 8/0 or 70 denier. Big thanks to our sponsor

Because of the recent blizzard, we got held up getting home from Belize, where we just wrapped up a great group trip. (More on that soon!) So, unfortunately, the shop is closed Tuesday, Feb. 23. Plans still on flux but will update soon.

Polar vortex got you down? Come get ready for warmer days ahead at the Deerfield Fly Shop’s drop in fly tying Saturday morning starting at 10:30! Bring your own materials and tools and get to work filling your boxes with fellow tyers.

The second Tuesday of each month through April join us at Tree House Brewing in Deerfield from 6 to 8 pm for a themed night of fly tying. Each month we will let you know ahead of time the theme for the night (dry flies, bass flies, etc—requests welcome!) On January 13 we will be tying streamers—we have a few in mind that incorporate different techniques and materials, but suggestions are welcome. In addition to regular tools like a vise, bobbin, scissors, whip finisher and whatever else you typically tie with, bring a dubbing twister and hair stacker if you have them. If not, we will have some extras on hand. for thread, 6/0 or 140 denier in black, red and any other color you like to tie with.

This year our friends at Firehole Outdoors have generously sponsored  Bugs and Beers—we will be tying on their great hooks and you will leave each session with a nice assortment of relevant hooks from Firehole.

Bring your own tools but we can help out if requested ahead of time. While these sessions are aimed at intermediate to advanced tyers, we will try to accommodate more novice tyers as well. Our goal with Bugs and Beers is simply to have a fun night of camaraderie and tying. We hope to provide a space for the fly fishing and fly tying community in western Massachusetts to learn with and from each other. Even if you don’t want to tie, stop by for a beverage and say hi!

There is a $10 material fee for this session.

Join us Tuesday December 9 at 6 pm at Tree House Brewery in Deerfield for the first Bugs and Beers of the season! The theme this week is Catskill Style Dry Flies. is sponsoring Bugs and Beers this season and supplying hooks. Deerfield Fly Shop will provide the materials. Just bring your vise, tools and some thread in dark and light colors in 8/0 or 70 denier. Cost is $10. Cash please! Going forward, Bugs and Beers will take place every second Tuesday of the month at Tree House through March.

CLOSING EARLY WEDNESDAY November 19! I am headed to Rhode Island Trout Unlimited to brag about the Deerfield River so the shop will be open noon til three. Back to regular hours Thursday. Sorry for any inconvenience.

The Deerfield River Watershed Trout Unlimited annual banquet is coming up!

It will be held on August 21 from 5-9pm at the Hinata Retreat (200 Warfield Road, Charlemont, MA). There will be a BBQ dinner featuring local produce, a cash bar, live music and an auction and prize giveaway to benefit the conservation and citizen science efforts of DRWTU.

The cost is $65 per guest, tickets can be purchased at the link in our bio. Help us protect cold water fisheries and celebrate the people who make it possible!
