The following is from Amanda Scarborough, a highly successful pitcher which I recommend you follow. I have never met Amanda. I have seen her pitch. She has a full understanding of the position as a pitcher and reflects a lot of the same things I teach today. By association, you can see how life lessons learned thru sports have influenced her approach of the game. Thank you Amanda. Please read some of her posts:

Not every good pitch is a strike and not every strike is a good pitch.
Success isn't dependent on how many strikes you throw, really. There are so many more factors in success than that. However, so many times it's all that young girls will care about.
When you are learning, mechanics and doing things right is far more important than strikes.
Strikes are usually a byproduct of good mechanics.
Work on your mechanics first and define your success that way, because at the end of the day you really don't want to throw 100% strikes in a game.
What you DO want is to have good mechanics 100% of the time.
