South Burlington Dolphins Youth Football The South Burlington Dolphins is a non-profit youth football organization coaching youth grades K-8

The South Burlington Dolphins Youth Football team program operates for the benefit of the youth of the South Burlington area. The objective of the coaches is to provide youth, regardless of s*x, race, creed, or nation of origin, the opportunity to play football for fun, in a positive and safe environment. They strive to coach each participant the fundamentals of football as well as sportsmanship, teamwork, self discipline, physical fitness, friendship, leadership, as well as many other important life skills. Above all the safety of each player is the NUMBER ONE priority. The team is a non-profit, volunteer based organization dedicated to the youth of our community. There are three levels of play in the Dolphins organization and also the Northern Vermont Youth Football League (NVYFL). The lowest level is a flag football program for children in grades 1-4. Tackle football begins in an instructional program for grades 5-6, and a more competitive tackle program for grades 7-8 represents the highest level. Typically, practices are 3-5 days a week, held after school, and games are held on Saturday mornings. Flag games and additional scrimmages occur during the week as well. The Dolphins are associated with the Northern Vermont Youth Football League (NVYF) which is comprised of 15 teams in the northern half of Vermont. Team geography ranges from the Barre area in the south of the region to areas from Burlington to North Country west to east. Each team represents a specific geographic area, and is operated independently. The Northern Vermont Youth Football League (NVYFL) is the governing body for NVYFL operations. Each team has representation on the board of the NVYFL, and the board works together to develop schedule, rules and generally manage operation of the league.

Big Sam (center #55), Class of 2023, putting in the work today in the trenches during Rice's opening day win.

Between the Seawolves last night and the Rice game today it is magnificent to see all of the underclassmen on the field for their respective varsity teams. Freshmen, sophomores and juniors all showing how their hard work, grit and determination are paying off early in their careers!

Congrats to each and every one of you for your performance on opening weekend and we are looking forward to you continuing your respective journeys down the road of excellence!

It is said that who we are is defined as much by what we do when no one is watching, if not more than what we do when others are watching.

Seeing young athletes discover the magic of resistance training, learning to communicate and work together all the while laughing and joking with one another carries a very special reward.

In this case, ending the session with a half hour of tiger ball provides an excellent opportunity to begin to use the muscles developed during resistance training in real time.

🏈 DEVELOPMENT FIRST: THE 2026 SB DOLPHINS EXPERIENCE 🏈

In the world of athletic development and technical instruction for a complex sport like football, 59 years of tradition combined with over 100 years of coaching experience has taught us one core truth: games are for applying skills, but real development happens on the practice field.

True growth requires well-executed, high-rep, quality practice time—something a 3-day-a-week schedule simply cannot deliver when you also have to factor in game preparation. That is why the South Burlington Dolphins program has always maintained a 5-day commitment to balance fundamental development with game prep.

This year, our 2026 athletes spoke up. Driven by their own long-term goals, they voted unanimously to focus heavily on what matters most: elite athletic development and high-quality reps.

To support their vision, we are combining our on-field fundamental practices with our vaunted Winning Edge Resistance & Weight Training Program—normally reserved for the off-season—right into our weekly fall routine!
