It was a big day for us in the NEK today! We hosted the dance competition at the Vermont Highland Games for the second year running and had a great showing of dancers from across the northeast and beyond. Many thanks to the dedicated volunteers who pitched in to make the day possible and to the games organizers for their support of the dance event. And thank you to friends near and far who made the trip to dance with us this weekend.
We’re missing half of our intrepid team in this photo, but it was an exciting and noteworthy day for all. Highlights included:
✔️ New friendships formed by many dancers, especially some of our new dancers, who loved spending time with those in our other classes.
🎉 A first stamp (and a first 1st place) for Lucy and stamps for Alice, Calla, & Kailey in Beginner, Viv, Isla S, & Isla B in Novice, & Maisy in Intermediate. And a FINAL Novice stamp for Isla B 🙌
🏅 Medals for Josie in Primary, Kellan, Sammy, Zoie, Kylar, & Alina in Beginner, and Nicole & Sarah in Premier.
🏆 Trophies for Alice in Beginner, Viv in Novice, Maisy in Intermediate, and Charlotte in Premier.
⚓️ 2nd place in the Hornpipe Challenge for Charlotte, and 4th place for Nicole.
⭐️ So many brave moments and goals hit!
Congratulations dancers!
As a teacher and coach, the highlight for me was watching the team grow in kindness and support of each other and the other dancers. The teens and adults stepping in to help the littles with steps and costumes while I was caught up with organizing. A young dancer telling me excitedly about the new friend from NH she made in the marshaling area. The littles watching their role models from the advanced class on stage from the backstage TV. The positive attitudes and genuine thrill they had for each other’s hard work on stage and the medals their friends received. And the wonderful families who were there to support and cheer on their kids and everyone else. It’s a privilege and a joy to hold the special space that is highland dance for the HDV team. My light shines a little brighter because of each of you 🌟
