Before today's games we spoke with returning post player Arii Young! She has some very high expectations for herself which will only make the lady wildcats that much tougher!

**What is one thing you've done well so far this summer?**

I've done a good job of being active on the defensive end of the floor.

**What part of your game do you feel most confident in right now?**

Defense. I feel like that's where I've been able to help the team the most.

**What have you learned from the games we've played so far?**

I've learned that when I run the floor hard, it helps me get earlier opportunities and better looks offensively.

**How do you think you help our team when you're on the floor?**

I think if I can start scoring and finishing around the basket, I can help the team even more and make a bigger impact.

**What is one thing you're working hard to improve?**

I'm working on pushing through fatigue, staying active, and not giving up when things get tough.

**What are you looking forward to most in tomorrow's games?**

I'm looking forward to trying my hardest, finishing around the basket, and being patient with the ball.

**What would make you feel successful after tomorrow's games?**

I want to score, finish my opportunities, and continue helping my team however I can.

After putting up lots of buckets we had a chance to check in with returning guard Karis Ivory before we take the court tomorrow morning!

**How are you feeling heading into tomorrow's games after a strong performance last time out?**

I'm feeling confident and ready to build on what I did last game while staying focused on helping the team win.

**What do you think was working so well for you offensively?**

I was taking good shots, staying aggressive, and trusting my work when opportunities came.

**What part of your game are you most proud of right now?**

I'm most proud of my shooting consistency and the confidence I have when taking open shots.

**What is one area you still want to improve despite your success?**

I want to continue improving my defense and playmaking so I can impact the game in more ways.

**How do you stay focused on team goals when you're having an individual breakout game?**

I focus on making the right play and doing whatever helps the team succeed, not just my own stats.

**What do you think this team is starting to do better each time we play?**

We're communicating better and trusting each other on both ends of the floor.

**What are you hoping to accomplish tomorrow?**

I want to play hard, shoot confidently, contribute in every area, and help the team get a win.

Next up is freshman guard Aaleah Snowden! Future is bright for this kid and the lady wildcats!

**What was going through your mind when you checked into your first varsity summer game?**

I felt happy and excited. I was also confident and ready for the opportunity.

**What was the biggest difference between varsity and what you're used to?**

The biggest difference I noticed was the pace of the game and how quickly the ball moved from player to player.

**What is something you learned about yourself during the games?**

I learned that when I play fast and aggressively, I don't focus on mistakes. Instead, I stay in the moment and keep playing.

**What do you think you did well?**

I think I did a good job of taking my time with the ball instead of rushing into a shot or forcing something that wasn't there.

**What is one thing you want to improve before the next time you step on the varsity floor?**

I want to improve my knowledge of our play calls so my teammates and I are always on the same page.

**How has this experience changed your confidence moving forward?**

This experience has helped my confidence grow because it showed me that everyone makes mistakes and that you have to push through them and keep playing. With the support of my coaches and teammates, I look forward to continuing to grow as a player.

After 2 great showings from the lady Wildcats. We caught up with returning player Tori Gibson! This young lady gets it! Huge year coming ahead!

**After our first summer games, how are you feeling about your performance?**

I feel like I did pretty good, but there are definitely areas where I can continue to improve.

**What is one area of your game you want to improve before our next games?**

I want to improve my offense and be more aggressive when driving the ball to the basket.

**Did the game feel slower or more comfortable compared to last season?**

The game felt much more comfortable compared to last season.

**How do you feel your confidence has grown since the end of last year?**

Yes, I feel like my confidence has grown tremendously.

**What do you think this team can become if we continue to improve throughout the summer?**

I think our team could be really great, especially if we continue to play as a team and trust one another.

**What is one goal you have for yourself before the end of summer basketball?**

One goal I have for myself is to be physically and mentally prepared for every game. I also want to play my best every time I step on the court.

We also had the chance to catch up with sophomore Guard Amiya Hines who is expected to take a huge leap this season!

**How are you feeling heading into our first summer games?**

I feel good. I'm a little nervous because of my last two practices and how I performed, but I'm excited to get out there and compete with my teammates.

**What part of your game has improved the most since last season?**

I think my confidence and my ability to get to the rim and score have improved the most.

**What do you need to improve to help the team at the varsity level?**

To help the team at the varsity level, I need to be more confident, play to the best of my ability, and not back down from any challenge.

**What do you see your role being this year?**

This year, I want my role to be a leader and to be an amazing teammate who helps the team succeed.

**How can Coach help you get there?**

You can be kind and continue to push me hard so I can become the best player I can be.

As we kick off our summer schedule we caught up with our senior PG Maddie Lawson

**How do you feel the team chemistry has developed so far this summer?**

I feel like we have not only learned each other's strengths on the court, but also have been talking and bonding much more off the court. We are becoming sisters more and more as the days go on.

**What do you think this group does best right now?**

I feel like this group plays best in transition. We have done a really good job of playing good defense and using our speed to get up the floor and score.

**Where do you think we still need the most growth as a team?**

As a group, we still need to work on making sure we finish possessions, whether that means finishing at the rim or securing the rebound after a good defensive run.

**As a senior and point guard, how comfortable do you feel leading this group?**

I feel extremely comfortable leading this group. I feel like I work very well with the girls around me and know how to help set them up for success. We all have our own strengths, and my job is to make sure they are all shown.

**Have there been any moments this summer where you’ve felt the team really starting to come together?**

I have seen many moments this summer where we have really come together as a team on and off the court. We have had a ton of encouragement and energy on the court, while off the court we have been planning team bonding activities and just talking more overall. I am super excited to see how we continue to come together.
