Allen Skillicorn Races Clifton AZ Hillclimb to Rescue Furry Friends
Fountain Hills, AZ – Allen Skillicorn is once again racing to raise awareness about pet rescue and adoption.
Fountain Hills Town Council candidate Allen Skillicorn donned his fireproof race gear and strapped into a racecar to raise awareness once again about pet rescue and adoption. This past weekend at the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Clifton, AZ Hillclimb. The Greenlee County Tourism Council and the Town of Clifton hosted the three-day event, in conjunction with the Arizona Border Region of Sports Car Club of America. There are twenty-two turns and a gain of 586 feet of elevation in the 1.9-mile Ward Canyon course. The Clifton Hillclimb sports car competition was first organized 1966. Rescue Pet Motorsports is an organization dedicated to spreading the word about pet rescue and adoption.
"As dog owners and animal shelter volunteers, pet rescue and adoption are particularly important to my wife and I," said Skillicorn. "Every year, approximately 6.5 million pets enter shelters in the U.S., but only about half will be adopted by a loving family. With so many animals in need of loving homes, anything we can do to help raise awareness is necessary."
Skillicorn won the GTU class at the Clifton, AZ Hillclimb in 2021. This time, Skillicorn racing the Rescue Pet Motorsports modified Mazda MX5 won the GTU class and lowered the course record for the GTU class to 108.223 seconds. Racing at the Clifton, AZ Hillclimb gives RPM a large audience to increase awareness about pet rescue and adoption issues.
"Whether volunteering at a shelter or behind the wheel at the racetrack, I will continue working to raise awareness about this critical issue and hope others will too," said Skillicorn.

Fountain Hills was well represented at the Clifton Hillclimb. Resident Brett Engel also competed and won the Vintage class in a 1967 Lotus Elan with a lap time of 121.708
