Some To-Do's for Your Heart Health:
..be aware of what lipids/oils are in your diet:

Limit the vegetable oils (soy, canola etc.)
Increase the monounsaturated oils – like OLIVE OIL

From mapmyrun.com, when to toss your running shoes: "

"Here’s a way to test the cushioning of your shoes: Hold the shoe, laces up, and bend the toe back towards the heel. If the shoe folds easily, it’s time to replace them!"

from Prevention magazine, for those just starting out, a simple tip:

Best: "Do what you love."
Don't enjoy spin class? Don't do it! What's important is to move your body in a way that brings you joy. When you find a form of exercise that excites you, it won't feel like a workout, and you're more likely to stick with it.

"Sometimes you have to try a few things before you find your workout, but once you do, it won't ever feel like work," says Erin H., 29. She started her healthy lifestyle with Jazzercise, and still enjoys the dance party vibe. And science agrees. According to a study by Iowa State University, the key to sticking with an exercise routine might be making it intrinsic rewarding—that is, the act of exercise is itself the reward (not the TV show you plan to treat yourself to after you're done sweating).

Here's a good exercise from Free People that you can do anywhere, even the beach! Squat with a toe raise. Beginners can modify it by holding on to a chair for balance, or modifying the squat to not go as far down. To see it in motion, go here: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/427208714637239125/

Some ideas from Runner's World about what to make sure to eat this Thanksgiving, and why. Here is one great tip:

"Sweet Potatoes..these potatoes offer a host of health benefits... They’re packed with vitamin A for eye health (a medium baked sweet potato offers over 400 percent of your daily value), and a range of B vitamins to boost metabolism and energy.

Traditional holiday recipes often call for sweet potatoes to be overcooked and doused with butter, sugar, and marshmallows, but we know that all you need to make a sweet potato delicious is a bit of cinnamon and a dollop of Greek yogurt.

For a savory approach, try pan-browned sweet potatoes: Simply cube the potatoes (leave the skin on for extra fiber and minerals) and sauté with a pat of butter, olive oil, and your favorite seasoning."

I'm going to be integrating this page with my Balance 365 page. I'm considering names now, not too far from the current. Diane Merritts' B365 Personal Training, Diane Merritts' 180* Personal Training, or Diane Merritts' Balance 365 Personal Training. Comments? The Diane Merritts part would be small with the name being prominent. Expect more exciting things to follow!
