Collins Bonded Connecticut on a 30" Osage Orange French curve.
This is the highest quality Collins money could buy for the short time they were made. I'd wager these are even rarer than the Legitimus.
Blacked out with highlighted lettering, polished bit and poll. Topped of with a cherry wedge.
Getting the pattern right for that handle was a bit of tinkering, but I think it came out well.

Granpappy Plumb.
This was a Plumb boys axe that belonged to a customers grandfather.
Alot of poll and edge grinding to get this one ready to work again, paired with a beautiful hickory 22" Killinger handle with an Ash wedge.
Rock solid and ready to serve the new generation.

Picked up a few of these Wästikivi stones to try out.
These are a very fine and hard natural stone that has been quarried in Finland for a very long time.
Its almost like a ceramic hone, very smooth and fine. Just the thing for maintaining an edge in the field.
They make an axe puck and a larger scythe style stone in a birch bark sheath that I think I'll will get when international shipping stabilizes a bit more.

This Plumb hatchet belonged to a customers grandfather.
Grandpa was a woodworker who enjoyed working with Osage Orange, so it made sense to handle it with the same wood.
Cleaned up the damage from a hard life and got it ready to serve another generation.

I thought I would start off everyone's morning on a good note with a poem written by Paul Criss.
For the casual observer today, Criss doesn't seem like much more than a West Virginia hillbilly that was handy with an axe.
The truth is he was much more. A showman, an orator, a poet and a champion.
A loving father and grandfather.
Hopefully some will find his words inspirational.

Sun setting on another day.
It got warm today, but now the cool air is coming.
A cold beer after working up a fresh sweat. Just winding down for the evening and waiting on the rain to come.
Fresh air and working with your hands, theres nothing like it!

Kellokoski 12.1 hung on a 27" ash handle in a traditional 1940s pattern.
These really are the projects I love most. Bringing back an old worn out head and giving it a second life.
Respecting the culture and heritage that these represent is always the driving force behind them. I'm looking forward to seeing some "in action" pics from it's new owner!

A throw back pic. First time taking my original Billnäs 12.3 and Lisakki Järvenpää puukko to the woods.
I enjoy restoring old tools, but having original pieces in working condition is always a treat to use.
Finnish axes in mint condition with their factory handles are a rare item.
I find myself agreeing that Järvenpää blades are fantastic and worthy of their legendary status.
