This is long but please take the time to read.
We wanted to take a minute and share these photos with all. These photos are from Wednesday morning May 6. We got over an inch of rain in about 16 hrs beginning on May 5th. These are photos of the driving range and around hole 10 green. We didn’t even try to get on the course itself. On top of that it has now rained 7 of the last 9 days. This water doesn’t just go away the effects will be here for weeks.
We get bad reviews and constant complaints about the grass height. Complaints that we are not open consistently and people question why would we not be open “it’s beautiful and the sun is shining”. Trust us we want to open. People tell us that we don’t know what we are doing that we are idiots on a daily basis. Other courses are better and we will just go there. We only care about making money and don’t care about our customers. This couldn’t be further from the truth. We try every day to create a beautiful environment for our customers. It’s is putting tremendous strain on us financially to not be open. We are already basically only open 6 months out of the year. Our staff is wanting to be out there mowing. It’s putting financial stress on them because they can’t work.
Please understand that we strive to be the best golf course in the world. Are we, no, far from it but it doesn’t mean that we are not trying. When we took over 5 years ago this place was not much better than a forest. We have put millions of dollars into a small golf course in Amherst/South Amherst/Elyria/Oberlin. We are not a big corporation that is looking for a tax write off. We have an owner who is the proud face of this business. Who is out here on the front line doing anything and everything that it takes to make the business succeed. He has put together a small group people that are, or who have become a family. We want to be here and work extremely hard everyday to make this place as beautiful as possible. Our staff is amazing both inside and outside and we our all doing the best we can. We put our heart, blood and sometimes tears in this place not because we have to, but because we want to. Please understand and try to appreciate and respect that.
Lastly, Thank you, as this doesn’t go out to out our loyal everyday customers because you are here and most of you have our back. We really appreciate it and couldn’t do it with out you. It goes out to the naysayers.
