Nestled at the base of Mt Cardigan, Cardigan Lodge is a year-round retreat for outdoor enthusiasts.

Explore our 50 miles of trails, join a family guided exploration, or simply relax on our deck or by the fireplace. If that’s not enough, head to nearby Wellington State Park on Newfound Lake to paddle or enjoy a sandy beach. Cardigan offers a choice of private rooms with private bath, private bunkrooms with shared bath, and individual. Our High Cabin, just below the Cardigan summit, is great for groups seeking a more remote, backcountry setting.

Big things are happening at Cardigan Lodge this summer 🔎🌲

Last weekend, AMC volunteers gathered for Volunteer Naturalist training, testing out hands-on activities designed to help guests of all ages slow down, look closer, and connect with the natural world around them.

From pond critter exploration to discovering tiny details with hand lenses, volunteers practiced family-friendly programs that will soon be part of the Cardigan experience this summer.

We’re excited to welcome more Volunteer Naturalists this season, and help guests discover just how much there is to notice outside. 💚

Snow much fun this winter at Cardigan Lodge ❄️⛄

The Appalachian Mountain Club Boston Chapter turned fresh snowfall into a full-on winter adventure, building an epic Quinzee in the backyard—complete with a carved-out bench for prime cocoa sipping. Caretaker Matthew Hecht even popped in to test it out!

⛔️ Temporary Parking Closure at Cardigan Lodge 🚧

We’re currently expanding the parking lot to add more space ahead of a busy winter season. Construction is underway, and contractors are actively working onsite.

Parking at Cardigan Lodge is closed for the duration of the project. If you’re planning to visit or recreate in the area, please park in Orange, NH and access the trails via the State Park entrance.

We apologize for the inconvenience and will continue to provide updates as work moves forward.
