After a 7 month layoff JtK took to the track for the first time in 2023. Why? Not sure but being on track was replaced with a snowboard, a paddle board and a mountain bike, mixed in with family time and other priorities.

On June 17-18, 2023 it was time for JtK to get back behind the wheel. No practice, not at fighting weight and no kart fitness this would be a war of will.

Practice day was pure strategy. The neck muscles were good for about 5 laps at max pace. And that is all we could do for five practice sessions. Despite all that pace seemed good.

Race day would be a warm up, 5 lap qualifying, two ten lap heats and a 18 lap main. The net result P2 in quali and P2 in the main. It was a fight against fitness and measured skill.

The lesson is that we need to practice before the next race for fitness. However our race kart is just that fast to tow this fat boy to the line!

Karting is pure grit and hustle! I love it!!!!!!!

JtK is finding his pace! The new Aluminos Bella and driver are in a great rhythm! The last weekend of the Rok Sonoma Series was a test of man, machine and motivation.

Rok Sonoma’s double header season ending race is a huge test! Two days of morning practice, quali, two pre mains and a final each day! Now that’s a season ending way to prove your skills.

Saturday for JtK saw solid pace, looking fast in the main only to suffer a mechanical on lap 6 due to a shifter mechanism failure.

Sunday the mission was clear!!!!!! And on a missionJtK went!

The result better pace and determination to get to the front. One short of goal, P2 in the main.

First race of the 2022 Season. Race #3 at Rok Sonoma. Qualified 8th, Heat one 8th Heat two 8th….

See a pattern here 😉…..

Finished the main in 5th. Solid first drive. Not bad for taking 7 months off. Next up Pat’s Acres in Canby Oregon!!!
