This month our intermediate rapier fencers will be exploring how to adapt the Italian system to “unorthodox” guards an fencers — a ver broad and loose term for fencing differently than those in the school.

This week we looked at approaching fencers who keep their sword high and parallel (à la some flavors of Destreza).

Here Yelena works on a few parry-riposte options after initiating a transport.

Our beginners working on their blade and line control.

They gain control over their partner’s blade and keep control while managing distance. When their partner stops, they attack, then have to deal with a late counterattack.

Great work by the team. 👏👏
