***Notice***

Due to high water levels, the Newman Bottom access gate is currently closed until further notice.

Update: The gate at Irwin Bridge is back open as of 6/18.

Additionally, recent heavy rainfall may have caused flooding on trails in low‑lying areas. Visitors are encouraged to use caution, avoid flooded trails, and be prepared for changing conditions.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to ensure the safety of all park visitors. Please check for updates before your visit.

An armored visitor on the move!

This armadillo was spotted after a prescribed burn at Birch Creek, already out exploring the newly opened landscape. Burned areas like this quickly become active again as wildlife takes advantage of exposed soil and fresh access to food sources.

Prescribed burns play an important role in restoring prairie habitat by reducing brush and improving plant diversity. When you visit the park, take a moment to look at these areas. You will be amazed at how fast the landscape rebounds and how much wildlife activity you can spot.
