Today we celebrated the incredible achievements of our spring track and field team by recognizing athletes whose efforts, growth, and leadership stood out all season. Each award represents the dedication, spirit, and pride that define our program.
We honored Jasmin Halim, Jackie Brownlee, and Maya McKinley as our Athletes of the Month. These three were key to our 3rd place finish in the 4x400m relay at the State Championships, one of the fastest in program history. These three also led the team in total points scored.
The Most Valuable Performer award came down to just a few points, highlighting how impactful each of these athletes was. In the end, Jasmin Halim earned the honor with a remarkable 129.5 points. Her relentless work ethic—both in practice and in competition—was a driving force behind the 129.5 points she earned for our team this season. As a team captain, she led by example and consistently placed among the top finishers at every meet she entered—including dual meets, Woodbury Relays, Lenape Invitational, County Championships, CAL Meet, Penn Relays, South Jersey Elite Meet, Sectionals, States, and the Meet of Champions. Jasmin also earned CAL First Team All-Star honors and gave our team confidence every time she stepped on the track.
Jackie Brownlee, our April Athlete of the Month, had a breakout freshman season. She broke the freshman records in both the 400m and long jump, won the County Championship, and was named a CAL First Team All-Star. Running low 58s in the 400 as a freshman is an incredible accomplishment and a sign of the bright future ahead for Jackie, who has quickly become one of the top freshmen in the state.
Maya McKinley, our March Athlete of the Month, was named Most Improved Player. As a senior, she made tremendous strides this season—running consistent 58-second 400m splits, jumping over 17 feet in the long jump, and delivering one of our top shot put throws. She qualified for the South Jersey Elite Meet and earned CAL Honorable Mention All-Star honors. Maya’s progress, work ethic, attitude, and pride in representing the team made her growth stand out in a season full of personal bests.
We also recognized senior Emely Lopez with our Sportsmanship Award. Emely was the clear choice among many worthy candidates. She never missed practice, always brought a positive attitude, and supported her teammates with enthusiasm, honesty, and care. She’s a trusted leader, a loyal friend, and someone who brought joy to practice every day. Emely will be missed more than she knows.
Congratulations to all of our award recipients and every athlete who made this season so special. Your heart and pride continue to raise the bar for our program.
