Just when I think it can’t get any better, nature proves me wrong yet again. An absolute MAMMOTH of a Pennsylvania wild brown! This heavy hen came right out from an undercut rock, slurped up a Lively Legz Fly Fishing olive Double Trouble, and gave me one of the craziest and most intense battles I’ve ever had! From sitting on the bottom like a rock in deep, fast current, to swimming underneath giant lay-downs, causing me to go for a partial swim to get to her, and even diving into some crazy deep undercut rocks. Needless to say, this fish gave me all she had to offer, and I thought for sure this was gonna be the one to push the 7’6” 3wt to its limit. Because of the warmer water temps I didn’t get a measurement on this one, I wanted to get her back swimming happy and healthy, but I’d estimate her in the 22” range. I’m so blessed and thankful for the man above! All glory to God!

An absolute FREAK of a brown from last night! I’m still in awe at the kype on this brown! What an unbelievable fight this fish was on the 7’6” 3wt! The Lively Legz Fly Fishing Callibaetis nymph strikes yet again on another MONSTER small stream brown! A little over 22.5” is what this kyped up beast taped at! Tie One On! All glory to God!

Lively Legz Supporters, meet Clara and Owen.
If you have ordered from our online shop you most likely have had an order packed with a thank you note from one of these two amazing youngsters.
Clara is a total rookie, when it comes to fly fishing, and Owen is becoming an amazing angler with several years now under his belt with the fly rod.
A recent trip to Northern PA gave me (Benny P) the opportunity to work with these two on the stream, and as I taught Clara the basics, Owen sharpened his skills even more.
Below are a few photos of our fun day on the water including a picture of a double with both of these two crazy kids laughing with fish in their nets.

Well thank you Aiyana for your decision to play summer hoops! Aiyana played Altoona in the first summer league game. I happened to have my rod….imagine that. I have been fishing the Little J for years but this takes the icing on the cake for me! The water is very high and very stained. It was nonstop action and this heavy brown decided to try a callabaetis nymph! These May blowouts can produce some of the best action you will ever fish. Especially when the streams are on the fall. livelylegz.com

With all the rain locally finding fishable water yesterday was a challenge. I am a firm believer that something is always “fishable.” I hit two brookie streams first with success and landed some beautiful fish. Lastly I decided to hit a small trib to a river that was near flood stage. Even the trib was ripping and tough to cross so I stopped at the two places I knew the river had nicer runs/seams. Low and behold I pull out my largest brown of the 2026 season. High flows can be a challenge but can also send you home with a smile on your face! livelylegz.com (Fell for the Dt)
