Pat Croce’s latest challenge wasn’t building a business, running the Sixers, or chasing adventure—it was trekking to Everest Base Camp while battling a rare form of blood cancer and taking chemotherapy pills along the way. The Philadelphia icon, now 71, reflects on a life that has evolved from relentless ambition and achievement to a deeper search for meaning through meditation, spirituality, and self-discovery.
Rather than focusing on reaching Everest’s summit, Croce embraced the journey itself, using the physical and mental demands of the mountain as a reminder to stay present, grateful, and connected to others. His story is ultimately about resilience, finding peace in the face of mortality, and proving that life's greatest adventures can be inward as much as outward.
