LMTR 2026 Post Race Wrap Up!
Coming into race weekend, our team had a lot of concerns about the hot and humid conditions our runners would be facing on race day. Despite our concerns, the LMTR runners amazed us at every turn. Nearly all runners that registered to run the race, showed up to the start line. Even more amazingly, on a tough day, on challenging trails, nearly all of the runners that crossed the start line, also found the finish line. Even in the stories of DNFs, there was incredible toughness in what they overcame, as well as in making the tough, but wise decision to call it. We were blown away by each and every one of the runners that took on the trails at Lake Macbride on Saturday.

Male 50K Winner: Jimmy Wood.
Jimmy threw down an impressive performance, running a tough and consistent race. Just as impressive though, his mom Candace volunteered for us all day at the start/finish line, then went and swept the 15.5 mile course, taking down all of the flags and signs!
Female 50K Winner: Megan Dial-Lapcewich
Megan was a return runner from the 2025 event. Due to a 3 hours lightning delay, the 50k had a 6 hour cutoff, and was offered to drop to 25k. Megan said "I came here with the goal to run a 6 hour 50k, and now that is what I have to do." Then she did. She was one of only 6 finishers, and the only woman to make the cutoff. This year there was a much larger field, with 53 finishers in the 50k, but the result was the same. Megan came back and crushed her goals, and the field once again.
50K DFL: Lance Foxwell
This is a special honor in the Ultra Running community for our final finisher. It takes incredible toughness and fortitude to grind out on the trails for 9 hours, on a brutally hot day. Lance showed up, and plugged away at the miles. We heard stories of his cheerful banter, and his excitement at the aid station decorations. He used nearly all the time we gave him, coming in with just around 3 minutes left before cutoff. There is a special joy being at the finish line watching a long day like that end in victory. Kudos to Lance!
Male 25k Winner: Timmy Parr
Timmy came to Iowa from Colorado with the goal of winning a race in all 50 states. He was able to check Iowa off of his list by managing to hold off the LMTR 25k event record holder, Ross Salinas, which is no small feat!
Female 25K Winner: Gabby Skopec
The heat was clearly not an issue for Gabby, as she dominated the course, and set a new course record for the women! Either Gabby is powered by the sun, or we can only imagine what she could do in perfect conditions!
