Important Updates to Family Visit Scheduling
The IFC met with Visiting Administration earlier today and one of the topics of discussion included the scheduling of family visits. In an effort to make the process as efficient as possible and attempt to fill all 12 units for each rotation we wanted to provide the following updates and information.
When Family Visiting staff reach out to schedule a family visit for the stated schedule rotation, the visitor will have 24 hours to return the call and schedule a visit or they will be moved to the back of the application pile.
Calls to schedule family visits will primarily occur on Mondays, but calls will continue to be made on Tuesdays and Thursdays as time permits to fill as many units as possible. While Family Visiting staff will follow the posted information on the CDCR website of the primary facility they are scheduling for (Central or North), they may call families from the opposite facility in an attempt to fill unfilled or cancelled units.
Administration was clear that if you are being called for a fill in or cancellation and you are unable to attend or do not return the call you will not lose your place in line. You will only be moved to the back of the applications if you are in queue for the current rotation and decline or don’t not return the call with 24 hours.
As a tip, some numbers to pay attention to for family visit scheduling include but are not limited to 831-237-3014 or 831-678-3951.
As a reminder the IFC worked diligently to get the information posted on the CDCR website in an attempt to reduce families contacting Family Visiting staff and inquiring about their place in line or what application date they are scheduling. We ask for your continued cooperation in utilizing the website and refraining from calling family visiting staff with these types of questions or inquiries as it furthers delays their ability to call and schedule upcoming family visits.
