When it comes to choosing the right wakesurf board, the O’Brien Haze and O’Brien Torrent both deliver high performance but they’re built for very different styles of riding.
The Haze is designed as a more approachable, all-around surf-style board. It’s stable, predictable, and easy to control, making it a strong choice for riders who want smooth carves and a forgiving feel behind the boat. The Haze is all about consistency, it tracks well in the wave, holds speed easily, and gives newer or progressing riders a comfortable platform to build confidence.
The Torrent, on the other hand, is a pure skim-style performance board. It’s built for riders who want a looser, faster, more technical feel. With its flatter profile and responsive shape, the Torrent is made for spins, quick transitions, and progressive tricks. It’s lighter underfoot and much more reactive, which makes it ideal for riders pushing into airs, surface tricks, and riding switch.
